  • My dream house would have a maid and a softserve machine.

  • That book alcove is awesome.

It reminds me of this website: http://bookshelfporn.com/

I want basically all those bookshelves.
  • Wow, I actually just looked up how much an industrial soft serve machine will run you. The baseline model is 3 grand. The awesome machine that can be 2 flavors and a twisted flavor is 11 grand.
  • How do you get in that hanging thing?  It looks awesome.

<div>You'd have to just spread the ropes... it would be like a cage once inside and I don't think I could be comfortable, even on that awesome porch. I'm kind of claustrophobic though... But I looove the bookshelf .  I've always wanted a window seat nook to read in.</div>

  • I love bay windows.. and I loooove the idea of a sun room, although I might want mine on the upper balcony or even on the front of the house (instead of a porch).

  • Oh Reddy, I love the bay windows too.
  • Oh, here's an acceptable alternative to the hangy thing:

  • My dream home would probably look like it was straight out of Whoville. I love bright colors and funky shaped furniture. Where you would think it was a wall but it would fold out and be an entire bedroom or something crazy. I like the idea of hiding everything behind secret panels.

People would probably get dizzy walking through because I don't think anything would be straight.

  • Not this kitchen, but I LOVE the idea of a raised bar for people to watch H cook (people always want to watch him and we all end up standing in a huddle in the kitchen.)

As much as I love old, victorian houses (and hope to own one, one day) I love the idea of modern bathrooms and kitchens... I think because in my mind they look cleaner... I don't like Dexter-style stainless steel, but I do like modern. And I love dark colors.

I couldn't find a good picture, but I would love a "vanity room" attached to my bathroom with a make-up desk and a couch... maybe I could fit this in to a walk in closet the size of my apartment ;)

  • Any made me think, don't forget the awesome tree house for the kids:

an indoor one? Why do kids get such awesome stuff nowadays?!

  • Next time I'm at my grandparent's I'll have to take pictures of their house. It's my dream home. It's part of the Historical Heritage Homes and was built in like, 1890 or something crazy.

As morbid and horrible as this sounds, I really hope they will the house to me. Does that make me horrible?

Also, Any, I LOVE that kids Pirate room. LOVE.

No! I've been subtly hinting to my grandfather that I'd love to have his winter house in Florida after he passes, it's been in our family for years and I'd hate to see some stranger move in.
  • That doesn't make you horrible CCF, nothing wrong with dreaming!

Exactly. They bought it in 2005, and I moved in with them in 2006. Since then they've re-done the Master suite, and the Kitchen and added a patio/deck in the back. It has a carriage house for the garage and a little playhouse in the back. It's amazing.

They built this multi-million dollar house in Novato in the early 2000's, and while it was amazing, and I could have totally imagined myself getting married there, it wasn't HOME, YKWIM?

ETA: My grandparents obviously have money, so everything is really classy. My Nana definitely took her time with every detail. She's so good at this kind of stuff.
