Sunday Morning (and meal plans?)

Re: Sunday Morning (and meal plans?)

  • If I wasn't working, I'd have slept in until 11:30 too. I love sleeping in.

Only about 1.5 hours left and I can go home and nap. Or help H with work. We shall see which one wins.

    Good Morning!

I've been up since 4:45am when my SOB teenage neighbor began playing basketball in his backyard.  Loudly.  So I tried shutting the window so I wouldn't hear but I was already awake at that point.

I'm trying to work out a meal plan for when we go to the hills.  H's relatives are pickier than him when it comes to food so I might be screwed.  All I have figured thus far is one dinner of fried chicken, roasted parmesan potatoes. and grilled corn.

This week's meal plan (in no particular order):

*Sauteed bologna, peppers, & mushrooms over rice with a garlic cauliflower side
*Bacon burgers with sweet potato puffs
*Chicken strips, roasted parmesan potatoes, and a mixed veggie blend
*Grilled chicken, onion, & pepper pizza with steamed broccoli side
*Grilled sirloins, southwest corn, and green beans
  • I just realized that the Greek Festival a few towns over from me was this weekend.  Im thinking about heading up there to get some yummy desserts.

The festival at my church is next weekend.  I love this time of year.

All of the old ladies make the desserts.  They are so  yummy.

Im also watching the Queens Jubilee on CNN right now.  Its pretty neat.  Very fancy.  Even in the rain.

We have great ethnic festivals in the city. I'll have to check the schedule. I bet I've already missed at least 1. My mother will be here for Latinofest, which is my favorite.

I went to the farmer's market this morning and then to another market mainly for meats so I really should be meal planning. I have a big pork shoulder I want to throw in the crock pot for tomorrow so I am on the hunt for recipes.

Unfortunately I am not sure when my jury service will end and I am not up to cooking after a day in court so the rest of the week is TBD. I've already told FH that the day it wraps I am going out and drinking copious amounts of alcohol.

  • Celtic- jury duty sucks.  I was "oncall" for a Federal Grand Jury for 3 weeks in Feb.  It sucked.  I had to call the night before to see if I was needed.

The case is interesting but it's really rough. I think I'm too "soft" to sit on a jury, too emotional.

I'll be posting about when it wraps if we're allowed. Right now we can't talk about it with anyone which makes it hard. I also am dying to look  the case up online but I won't.

ETA: I can't imagine having my life be that distrupted for 3 weeks. My job is really busy right now but we've made it work.

  • I wish I had gotten called, but it was around the time that Whitey Bulger was going to go to trial and I did NOT want to end up on that one, lol.

  • I don't think anyone wants me on their jury. I am a vey unforgiving person.
  • They made an arrest in a very high profile murder case a few months ago and I was scared I'd get stuck on that jury. I can only imagine that will take months.

I'm very thankful that I get a normal paycheck while serving.

  • Dot - after grocery shopping I went and looked at shoes again. I think I am going to get these in Navy or these in Ivory. How is your shoe hunt going?

I'm still painfully indecisive about jewelry.

  • Blasphemy, dot. No crunchy stuff in tuna! That's like putting it in deviled eggs. NO!

I'm picky about my tuna. I blame my mother, since I make it the same way she does.
  • A sushi place by us hollows out cucumbers and cuts them into spirals. This is then stuffed with tuna and drizzled with a wasabi sauce. It is freaking amazing.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Sunday Morning (and meal plans?) : Cucumbers are crunchy. I also like crunchy stuff in potato salad. Mmmm I'm hungry now.

That's different, they are cucumbers, the only excusable crunchy stuff. But, I also don't chop them up and mix them in like you would celery. I just put the slices on the bread. I think I just don't like when stuff is mixed in; I like to be able to pick it out easily if I want to.

Tuna HAS to be made with lots of cracked pepper, hellmans mayo, green onion and finely diced celery. zomfg best tuna ever.
