Ceremony Musicians

Since we have talked about photographers and DJ's so far this week, what about ceremony musicians?  What type of musicians are you using and what is the cost/approximate cost?I'm not ready to book anyone just yet, but I'm trying to organize my budget and get a good idea of how much I will need to allocate here.

I am using Serenata Strings and doing a string duo..cello and violin for one hour. It cost 280 for both and 200 for one. Definitely worth it in my mind to have 2 for almost the same price as one lol They also will do any music you want if you provide sheet music. I used The Violin Guy.  www.theviolinguy.net Radu is absolutely amazing and I think his prices are great for the amount of talent that he has.  He can play violin, guitar, piano, and sing.  I highly recommend him.  I had so many people come up to me after the wedding asking me where I found him (he's married to one of my photographers) and telling me how awesome he was.  He played at my ceremony and then DJ'd the reception.  I seriously can't say enough good things about him.

oh and I found them at a bridal show and the cellist there played specifically for me...like a personal audition lol Talking with their coordinator Karen(who plays the violin) is very easy and responds very quickly. Great customer service in my opinion.

We had a small choir and an organist from our church.  The church set the fee at $150 per musician.  My husband, who's a musician, thought it was pretty standard.  He just played in a friend's wedding as a favor, but said normally he'd charge about what we paid for our musicians.

Awesome.   It's good to know the average standard, Terrinski, that helps. I was looking at Serenata Strings the other day, but was thinking their pricing was much higher.  I will definitely have to speak to them as it sounds reasonable!Mariah-  I was checking out the Violin Guy when you mentioned him the other day.  The prices on his website are too high for me at $600 ceremony plus $2200 to DJ reception.  I'm sure is is very talented, but yikes!  I guess I can contact him to see what kind of deals he has though?

Yeah...I got him for really cheap because of the package I choose with my photographers. I would still contact him and see what he can do.  Radu is really nice and it's at least worth a shot.

I will definitely do that.  I really like the idea too of only having to work with one vendor for both ceremony and reception.  That makes it easy!

I am using a string trio from Denton - Four Strings.  They've been nice to work with so far.  I am having them play the cocktail hour also.  http://www.four-strings.net/fees.html

We used Aria Strings and had many compliments. Their booking agent Becca is always really nice and helpful.

I am also using Aria Strings - we are using a string trio for the ceremony.  We are not having any "piped in" music or singing.
