I'm listening to Fi talk to his mom on the phone and it sounds like she is trying to talk her way out of coming to the wedding. He's being very calm about it, but has repeatedly told her that he wants her to be there because she is his family and it is a family occasion. 

Frockity Frick Frick Frick. This was my biggest fear about this wedding. I know she has social anxiety issues, but I was hoping against hope that she'd get on that plane to be there for her son, because he's always there for her, always on her side. FUUUUCK!

I hope he convinces her to come. I have a feeling they'll have this same conversation Thursday night and Friday morning before she gets on the plane.

Aw, Sarah, that's hard, and I'm sorry.  It sounds like your fi has a lifetime of practice dealing with this, though, and that he handled it just right.

Is your wedding/reception close to the hotel? If not, maybe you should have some transportation ready for her if she chooses to leave before his dad does. I just know that people with this anxiety may decide not to come if they feel there's no way out when they get there. Then hopefully, she'll come and have a happy time and not be in a rush to leave
