Snarky Brides

So excited! But I need suggestions!

Yesterday my wonderful FI got a great promotion and a BIG raise to go with it. We are so excited! He has only been with his company for about a year, so this was a pretty big deal for him.

I'd like to get him some sort of "Congrats" present, but I am TERRIBLE at gift giving. I was thinking about taking his late grandfather's pocketwatch to a jeweler to get it fixed, as it no longer works and it means a lot to him. Does anyone have any other "man gift" suggestions? Thanks!

  • OMG Nebb...rofl...

The worst thing is, she is right, although I would start with a steak dinner as foreplay.
  • okay, more seriously...

I am not joking about the steak dinner thing, my FI and I enjoy good food though.

The watch idea is nice though too.

In all seriousness like number said, my husband and I dont really "do" gifts for celebrations. A special meal (something more indulgent than we would normally have) and spending quality time together is how we celebrate things.
  • Make him a nice dinner, do the thing around the house that he usually does but hates, give him a massage.

Since idk ur fi, i can't suggest a personal gift

According to my FI, and most men I know, that is the most sincere expression of appreciation and/or congratulations that exists. Seriously.

  • One more vote for steak and a blowjob.

  • and a sandwich after!
  • Sorry I have to agree my DH will take a BJ anytime over anything else. Second would be a great meal.

What kind of profession is he in, maybe a nice briefcase. Or something relating to his job?

  • I second a BJ.  Maybe his fav fantasy?

As for other man gifts maybe cuff links?  If he has that kind of job.  They add a little something to the outfit.  If hes into vintage/classic design Georg Jensen is the way to go.

This just made me actually LOL.  I'm going to have to 4th or 5th the steak and BJ idea.
  • I'm going to have to offer up the idea of  two BJs, if he's used to them. It'll make it stand out as a special night. :)
  • While every guy would appreciate a BJ, my BF and I always go out to a nice dinner to celebrate things.
  • LMAO,!!

Do all three.  The watch, the steak and the blowjob and he should be a happy man.
  • So now we all know what Nebb REALLY means when she says she's spending some quality time with her husband.

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Steak, BJ and and ice cream sandwich after sounds perfect! =)

  • Does he drink? Maybe a fancy bottle of scotch or classy wine and invite friends over to celebrate (no BJ's for his friends though)
  • I'm sitting in my office laughing so hard I'm crying. Coworkers are starting to look confused. Thanks guys, I'm sure he will love your ideas!

    ROFL!!

I like the booze idea though, I'm a big fan of tequila and champagne (not together, barf) so sometimes FI will get me a bottle of an expensive champagne she knows I like, or more Patron if I'm running low. :-)

  • Vegas Groom--you're funny!  My vote is the watch, steak and BJ.  Order of events is optional.
