Snarky Brides

Evening thread?

What's everyone up to this evening?

I'm working the other job until 8.  I have a raging headache.. again.  This is the fourth in a week.  I've taken ibuprofen and sinus medicine but nothing's kicking it.  Ugh.

It's pretty slow here tonight (knock on wood) so I'm revamping my wedding to-do list, since it's constantly changing.

  • Hi chels. What's your second job? I just bent down to tie my shoe and Geno came over to see what I was doing. His head knocked right into my eye. It instantly got puffy and red. Great!

  • I'm sitting at work too.  I normally get off at 5, but since my warehouse manager isn't here, and I'm the only other one that knows how to do trucking, I have to stay here until the guys get done pulling orders.

So really, I'm doing nothing but knotting.

I was supposed to go Christmas/birthday shopping tonight, but I doubt that's going to happen.  I am, however, going to have a giant glass of wine when I get home.
  • Oh LTH, I forgot to tell you awhile back.  Thank you so much for e-mailing me that menu plan...I really appreciate it and it has helped immensely!
  • I am off in an hour and will probably go home and watch Teen Mom 2 and do nothing. DH is off work until friday so he is doing all the cooking & cleaning so life is good!

    Hello ladies!

I'm still at work for another 45 minutes or so. My desk here is atrocious!

Heading out to dinner at Old Chicago with two of my old college roommates-they are some of my closest friends and we have been SO good at gettiing together once every 2-3 weeks. It's awesome.

ETA: I forgot about Teen Mom 2 tonight. Guilty pleasure, totally. I'll have to watch that when I get home!

  • I wish I had a wine that I liked. I don't like dry wine but some whites are too sweet for me. Any suggestions? The last time I drank white wine was during obamas election day. I had off and so did my roommate. I woke up at 2am WASTED with election coverage on tv. The only problem was they were speaking in Spanish. I also had a dried Maccroni noodle stuck to my shorts.

Well my second job is my old job.  The person they found to replace me is still in school so she can only work 4 evenings a week.  I agreed to do the other evening.  It's nice too because it keeps me on the payroll for when I want to come back on breaks.
I'm sorry about eye! Ouchies!  Do you have any visine?
  • Gurr- no problem! Glad you liked it. :-)

Try some moscato.  It's sweet but not sugary sweet, more like fruit sweet, but not too sweet.
  • I can't look at your sig Chels, it gives me a headache.  Are his hands that unfocused or is it just my crappy eyes?  Don't change it on my account!  I've got a minor case of eye-strain thanks to too much internet reading.  Darn final exam studying!

I've got chicken tortilla soup on the stove, picked up the Christmas presents for the kittens today, am pumped for SoA on tv tonight, and am so relieved to have one final exam out of the way.  Just another step closer to getting my life back.  I need to work out and it was shifted to Priority:low these last few weeks.  My weight loss has been creeping, I've been eating less than stellar, and I just really need more loss.  The scale cooperated this morning though finally.

I've also got a tad of a confession:  I'm finding it really hard this year to be all "yay!  Holidays!"  I think I just had a different idea of what this last year would bring and am obsessing about too many of the sad thoughts that come up sometimes around holidays and impending family gatherings.

So essentially, if I've been a butt to anyone lately I am sorry.  I don't know that I have specifically..  but I haven't been as cheery as I'd like.
  • Anna- I'm sorry you are feeling that way. Especially because I know how much you love Christmas. I'm in the same position as you and maybe even for the same reasons (taking hints from your posts last night). I just don't want my obsessing to ruin a holiday that I love. I know it's hard. Do you have a recipe for the soup? It sounds yummy.

  • I'm also having a terrible time getting pumped for Christmas. Living just FI and I, I just didn't even see the point of decorating my house. We did put a tiny 3 foot tree up, but that's about it. It seems stressful this year. Bah Humbug!

There are so many good things about the Holidays though, I just need to get in the mood. Maybe I'll throw in a little Christmas music for these last couple minutes at work.

  • Jen- Christmas music always makes me feel so happy! :-)

  • Anna you're never a butt. you're awesome.

I signed the rest of my paperwork today, so I'm officially a professor at the college. So that's good. Right now some tree guys are over dropping off cuttings from one of H's customer's. H is going to use it for smoking (it's a pecan tree) so I'm hoping they finish and leave soon.
  • I still have yet to hear that Christmas Shoes song, but it seems like everyone on here either has strong feelings for or against it. Hopefully Pandora kicks it out tonight so I can hear it!

Oh Anna, you haven't been a butt (not that I've noticed at least).  I"m really sorry you're so bummed out.  I know the end of the year can get daunting, but just think about January when you get to "start over".  Sometimes life doesn't always go as planned, but in the end, it always ends up that much better.  *hugs*  Feel free to PM me if you want to talk

ETA sorry about the sig.  It's blurrier than it should be.  Do you watch friends?  What they do is pound their fists together twice, which signifies giving the finger.

It is indeed the same reasons.  i think it's the straw that broke the camel's back.  I've also been moody about sad things.  I bawled like a baby while reading an article about disadvantaged kids that were asking for socks and peanut butter from Santa because they have nothing.  I think I cried the most because I don't have enough money to treat them all.

It's actually my H's recipe.  Totally man-style cooking.

    *two large chicken breast diced
*one large can of enchilada sauce
*2 regular cans of cream of chicken soup (i use the low fat)
*2 regular cans of Campbell's Fiesta cheese soup
*2 regular cans worth of milk
*one small can of chopped green chilies (diced tomatoes with chilies is delish too)

Dump it all in a crock-pot and let go for at least 4 hours on low

  • It's funny to be in an evening thread when it's only 3:30pm here!  I'm waiting for the clock to hit 5pm and then my parents are taking H and I to dinner for my bday :)

Chels, I'm so sorry your head is still hurting :(  H needs to give you a head rub!

Anna, I know how you feel when it gets to the end of the year and you start thinking about all the expectations you had.  But you are amazing and beautiful and healthy and 2012 will kick ass!

Thanks for the recipe Anna. It sounds yummy. If you ever want to "talk" about it, PM me. I think we are going through the same things and I know it's rough. Also, I cry like you did all the time. I have way too much empathy for other people. So much so that I will cry over the littlest things that happen to other people- numerous times a week. Edit: I feel like me saying I have too much empathy comes out snotty. I mean that I get upset, anxious, cry for other people all the time. I remember when one of the republican candidates forget his answer at a debate. The radio played it over and over again and I cried for him... And I'm not even republican.

  • Hi ladies!

I got my Canadian package from nebbula today and I'm so excited! There's a ridiculous amount of chocolate in the box. nom nom. I'm inhaling it all tomorrow (after I weigh-in for WW. haha)

Anna, I'm sorry you're not feeling the holidays this year.  :(
  • Anna you are never a butt and we love you! Just come to the dark side with me and you'll be fine.

DH left for St. Louis earlier today. So tonight I'm on my own. :(

  • Evening ladies. I am hoping to leave work pretty soon. FI is grilling steaks tonight and I am trying to figure out side. I think I'll do steamed veggies and roasted potatoes. Tonight is the season finale of SOA so I will be watching that.

Is Steph around? I have a question on a recipe you have on your meal plan.

  • oh, and ditto the moscota rec, Hike.  But you might have to try a few... moscotos can be VERY sweet.  There's one by Naked Grape that I really like. :)

It's been good so far.  No mean/death threatening clients today so I count that as a gift from work LOL.

Last night Jered came home with a HUGE bag of all of my favorite things.  Of course my favorite things are mostly junk food items so I have decided I'm done trying to diet in December.  I ain't happenin!
