Snarky Brides

s/o of stripper post

Just a random story that still makes me laugh/cringe.

H very briefly dated this one stripper that I met one night when she and her boyfriend stopped by his restaurant to say hi. He introduced me to her (I always introduce him to my exes...it is normal for us). She was really sweet and super cute in a tatted out, East LA kind of way.

She started telling me how they were there for a Samoan wedding of 700 people at the Wynn. And it was very uncomfortable for her because it was mostly Crips, and most of her friends are Bloods. And I was like ::blink, blink::

I am one of the least confrontational people you will ever meet, and so is my H. I also get made fun of by everyone for being so "white", whatever that means. And I think he really had a thing for this girl until she blew him off. All I could think about is how could he like me and like someone who uses Crips and Bloods in every day conversation.

Weird.

So...any stories of exes that are so utterly opposite of you in a way that makes you stop and wonder about him?

  • Oh man. She was friends with both? Can one do that?

    image
  • I don't think so. Most of her friends were Bloods and there were a lot of Crips at the wedding.

I wanted to laugh. I kept feeling like I was in Boyz in the Hood...one of my favorite movies ever. What do you say? "omigod...wow...that must have been like so weird and totally awkward!" Cuz that is pretty much how I talk.

  • Yeah I wouldn't know how to respond to that. I wouldn't want to be friends with gang members either!
    image
  • And H grew up with a very strict religious background, and while he is confidently strong, he is not an aggressive or angry or violent person in any way. I am not even sure he has ever been in a real fight, So I can't picture him being mixed up with that.

But I know he does love a good hot unstable girl. Which is why he married me! Haha

  • I don't have a good ex story, but how about a silly gang one?

I went to a friend's funeral. The kid had a fairly rough life, and had fallen in with a bad crowd. Well the two "gangs" here were both in attendance. The "gang" members were are all painfully midwestern and middle class. We don't have anything reminiscent of a bad neighborhood. I am guessing one has street cred in Montana if you have tipped cows on a Friday night, because that's really all I can figure.

  • LOL Jas that is hilarious.

  • Hahaha...love it. I have a friend from Napa Valley who keeps trying to tell me that the high schools are dangerous because of all of the gangs. I am having a hard time buying that one.

  • The Bloods and Crips thing made my eyes get a little wide too! Yikes!

Ben hasn't had too many exes - when we were in high school, his friends mostly dated the same girls - and they were all in the same circle of friends. I actually dated two of his other friends; one of them is his best man and the other is another one of his groomsmen, lol. But they're both nice guys.

His one girlfriend he had in college for about 5 months is the only one I am surprised at. His sister HATED her - and with good reason, I guess she was just a snot all the time. Former cheerleader (not that that has anything to do with it - just not really Ben's type). And she ended up cheating on him - he didn't have a steady girlfriend after that. Kinda feel bad for him :(

He can be a brat though too. She comes into the bank that he works at, to deposit some checks and do some financial work for her job - I've never seen her but he says "Ugh, she looks terrible." And every time she asks him how he is, he was always just itching to tell her he was getting married. After we got engaged, he says he just loved saying it to her.

  • I've had a few of those, "How were you ever with her" moments, although I don't remember any offhand.

I will say that I saw pics of my ex's wedding on FB the other day. I was a little sad because I wasn't invited, but I also found myself judging, a lot. It was bad, bad, tacky bad.

  • Do tell tide!

...CS - it frightens me that people like that exist. I can respect very religious beliefs like that - but thinking Alaska is an island? Is she so sheltered that she was never given a geography lesson? Dayum.

  • Hmm....I wonder what he thinks of my exes. He likes the ones he has met. They always end up chatting or exchanging numbers. He ran into one of my exes leaving work one night and went out to the club with him until 4am. That was kind of weird. But I guess that means I have dated some cool people.

  • AATB - I only saw a few of the ceremony, but ex looked awful. It was on the beach, and ex and GMs were wearing white dress shirts, khaki pants, boleros and cowboy hats. BMs were wearing ill fitting pepto pink dresses.

Maybe tacky wasn't the word. Sloppy is probably a better way to describe it.

  • Hi Tide!

I saw one recenly tagged to a family member on FB. It was a beach wedding and the GM were wearing white shirts and khakis. Cute right? Except the white shirts were a sheer, shimmery see through material!! I died.

  • MERMAN SHIRTS!

Yeah... the white shirt/khaki combo did not jive well with the bolero/cowboy hat combo.

  • I hate this website.
  • Scott's ex before me was a real piece of work. Her name was Cherrie (pronounced Sherry) and she had a 2 year old (they dated when they were 22). Scott didn't break up with her when he heard rumors she cheated on him when he was overseas, or when the baby's daddy showed up (oops she was still married and forgot to tell him hubby was in jail) OR when she cheated on him with Vanilla Ice. Nope, he finally got the hint when he came home from a tour of duty and found her in bed with another dude.

Scott's no dummy, so I was like, wtf?
  • Vanilla Ice. Now, THAT'S a story to tell.

And the sad thing is, I think I could sing that entire song - without hearing it to sing along to.

    Scott, Scott, Scott.......

I don't think John's had a true ex-GF since high school and shortly after. I've gotten a couple of versions of the story, but apparently, she's one of the reasons he's adamant about no lies. His sister tells the story differently, because she liked the girl. That was kind of annoying to hear. But then again, she's obsessed with how she once could wear a bikini before she had a kid.

When you started out saying it was on the beach I was like, oh it couldn't have been that bad... but yeah. Boleros and cowboy hats!?!?! And for the love of Christ why would you wear pepto pink dresses at a beach wedding!

Sloppy is the perfect word for it.

  • I didn't know anyone still wore boleros, with the exception of our assistant governor.

  • Oh goodness. Well there aren't really gangs here but I know stripper exes all too well. FI used to work security at strip clubs so most of his exes are strippers. His last ex is freaking beautiful with a perfect body but...she is a stripper and drug addict. so hey! He liked trying to "fix" women but I'm the first he didn't. :) Daddy issues ahoy!

I will never know why he was with his ex-wife though. No one does. Not even him. She is the opposite of his body type, look, personality, etc. Also she is a raging cvnt Innocent
  • Oh, and "fun" gang story. I'm working at PetSmart and it's me, my associates, and our store director. Suddenly one of my associates sees a group of guys walk through the door and starts shoving me towards the back of the store. I turn to ask him wtf he's doing and he goes "Kristi, you need to go to the back room now and don't come out until Pedro comes and gets you."
    Um...k?
They come get me a few minutes later. Turns out the guys walking in were members of a gang (Latin Kings maybe?) and my associates were members of their rival gang MS 13. The store director kicked them all out and they were like "Man, we weren't goign to make any trouble, just wanted to tell M we're going to cap his asss tomorrow"

    Wtf?
  • According to H, most of his exes sucked. He doesn't talk much about them and I don't ask. One snubbed me at the reunion, one called at Christmas and tried to get him to ditch Christmas at my family's to meet up with her, and another texted constantly at all hours of the night until I set her straight. He was 27 when we met so I knew he'd had girlfriends, but from what I hear he didn't know how to pick them at all (this is from the mutual friends who hooked us up).

I have no ex-boyfriends, so there's no drama or jealousy to be had on H's end.

  • Those are some pushy exes. Wow.

    image
  • Yeah he dated some losers, if I do say so myself. I've never met any of them in person except the first, at the reunion. But the one who called at Christmas, who was his longest relationship (and then left him to marry his best friend at the time), actually asked where we lived so she could stop by and "catch up." He told her to get over herself then blocked her number and email.

That was pretty much FI's reaction just now: "Uh.... ::blink blink:: um, wow."
