Snarky Brides

What do you remember...

So as many of you know, I am a teacher...I teach mostly kids between 12 - 14 years of age. I am always astounded by what is 'cool' at any given time...my kids ALL have ipods (mostly iPod touches, kid you not, 80% of them have one), Uggs are really popular (real and fake), scarves, etc...

What do you remember from when you were in middle school that 'everyone' had?

I remember:

Doc Martens (parents wouldn't buy them for me)
Vuarnet t-shirts (these might be a Canadian thing)
Technicolour shirts (changed colour with heat/sweat, gross!)
Big shirts with leggings (wait a second...hmmm...how cyclical is fashion!)
Nintendo Gameboys

Ummm I forget everything else lol.
  • Oh, wait!

Phones in their own room. Bonus points if their phone had it's own line. That was just unheard of for most people.
  • Platform sneakers.

<div>uh, I NEVER got to have a phone in my room. When I was in grade 8 I convinced my mom to let me get a ridiculously long phone cord so that I could drag the phone in my room but I wasn't alone to have my own phone.</div><div>

Almost everyone in my grade in grade 6 did this, much to our parents displeasure. We all had pink, purple or teal hair for like a month.

  • Coloured elastics on braces were awesome, I always coordinated it to SOMETHING or came up with a design beforehand. You take what you can get when youre a metal mouth.

What about those freaking tiny backpacks that became popular after clueless.
