WR: Photo sharing site?

Anyone have recommendations on photo sharing sites?  I want to include something on our wedding website for guests to be able to upload photos after the event.  Here's a few things I'd like:

1) I'd prefer that they be able to upload without even having to register; maybe just needing to know some code or name to get to our specific area.

2) I don't care if they can't download what others have uploaded, in fact I'd rather they not be able to see what others have uploaded at all, or perhaps not until after we've reviewed what other people have uploaded and make them available.  I had planned to take the good ones and re-publish them on the wedding website afterward for people to download if they want them if the download service we find doesn't have an option to 'approve' the photos I want people to be able to see.

3) I want to be able to download the original files people have uploaded; I don't want to be forced to pay for prints or have to download some scaled down lower quality version of the original file.  I'm ok with paying to have this option available if it's reasonable.

4) If they have an option to purchase prints, albums, etc. that would be cool, but again, I'd want it to only be made from selections of photos we've approved first, not just anything anyone uploaded.

  • I did Shutterfly and I think it hits on all points except the first... I'm unsure if you have to register or not, but I really like that it has a password, I can DL everything (but video), and have bought some prints, it all worked out pretty well.

  • I was looking for something like this, too.  Thanks, OP for asking the question.  And thanks for the great answers!!  :)

  • We're planning to use Shutterfly, you do have to sign up for it though.  I think this is a great idea, instead of having to print out specific pictures for people and mail them to them post wedding, they can go on the site, pick the ones they like and print them out.  Time and money saver, i'm a fan.

  • I used Wedding Turtle - everything is free and they provide cards so you can give them out at the reception to your guests instructing them how to upload the pics.
  • We used Picasa as well :)
