because of the off chance that there might be something I need to know. I get a lot of standard form emails, so if there's even one extra line of notes, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'm with Erin and have way too many hours left at work.  But I splurged today and got curly fries so I can't complain too much.

And I'm very jealous of the DJ, Dmill, et al GTG tomorrow.

  • I am so.fucking.irritated right now. Long story short, one of my teammates backed out on a work event he was scheduled for on Sunday, and one of my supervisors is trying to make me do it. I had originally volunteered for a work event this morning specifically so I wouldn't be called up for Sunday's event, since it's our anniversary this weekend. We even waited until yesterday (aka the last minute) to book anything like the hotel, excursions, etc just because I had a sneaking feeling this douchebag would pull shizz like that. Well, I kept checking the schedule and sure enough, the guy was still on there, so we dropped $200 on a deposit for a hotel room on Ft Lauderdale beach, $250 on tickets for excursions, and then this morning my supervisor tells me I gotta do this event on Sunday. All because this pieceofshit decided he wanted to go out of town and didn't find a replacement (which is required of all of us whenever we aren't going to be in the area).

I'm just so sick of being the one to cover for people being irresponsible. Just because I'm nice and reliable doesn't mean I don't have a life, too. This is our first anniversary, we don't often do romantic stuff like this, and this fuckface just screwed me over. My H is livid. If we have to cancel our plans because of this, we'll be out at least $500, if not more if you include clothes we bought and such.

Furthermore, if I ever pulled shizz like this, you know how much trouble I'd be in? And this asshole outranks me! (well, not for long, but still) I just can't believe the lack of leadership and responsibility there is at this unit. And I hate to pull the gender/race card, but it's true. They make special exception because either they're "boys" or they're both Puerto Rican/Cuban/of Latino descent. It's becoming a real problem at our unit, not just with me, but with plenty of other people who have told me they get treated this way too.

And now I'm all ranty. I need a beer.
I have a half-hour left, then I'm going home and taking a nap. So a CW here sent out a teamwide email telling everyone this was her last day. This resulted in mass emails about how we would all miss her and good luck in future endeavors. I have absolutely no idea who this chick is. Either she just started and was immediately loved by all, or she's been here for awhile and I never knew. This also sparked an irritation - I effing hate when people hit "reply all." It's like a one-upping contest of who can be the wittiest or smartest in their responses and banter that does nothing but waste time for those not involved.
    Posted by Seshat411
I was just talking to a coworker about that.  It astounds me how many people hit reply all.  I really don't think our CEO wants to see your stupid response to the company wide email that was sent out.  The worst are the ones to win tickets to a game or something; instead of just replying to the sender with your request to be entered, they reply to all so I get 50 emails of "I'd like to be entered!!!!!!!!!!"

  • We're not going to be out of town, we're staying in a hotel that is only about 10 minutes from our house (staycation), so his logic is that since I'm here, I'm available. I explained it to him, my Warrant Officer who outranks him by leaps and bounds explained it to him, and for some reason he's still sticking to his guns. Basically, if I bail out on this event on Sunday, they can pull my promotion on the 1st or even worse. All because this dillhole is flaking out and he gets special liberties because 1) He's a man, 2) He's Latino, and 3) He currently outranks me.

    HOW IS THIS FAIR?!

I'm so sick of not being heard. It's like they care just enough to bring up the point of it being unfair, but they don't care enough to fight for me.

  • Holy crap Mehg.  Does your supervisor know about your NONREFUNDABLE plans?  That's complete BS.

So I discovered something odd this week and maybe someone can help me figure out why it would happen...  I didn't go to work on Monday because of my back -  Tuesday I got a text from my mom saying she was sorry she missed my calls and what was up with calling her cell instead of her home phone.  I talked to her last night and she got 2 calls on Monday afternoon from my work phone and one Monday evening from my cell phone.  First problem is that when I call from work, it goes through a "trunk line" and shows the generic company phone number, not my direct line number which is what showed up on mom's caller id, 2nd problem obviously is that I wasn't even at work on Monday.  I checked my call log on my cell phone to make sure I hadn't called her in a percocet haze Monday evening and I hadn't done that either.  So 3 calls to my mom's cell on Monday all looking like they were from me, but none of them were.  How does this happen?

  • I was having a pretty good day until I checked my bank account this morning and noticed three charges on my debit card for a gas station in town that I NEVER go to.  I don't have my debit card (tore my house up and down looking for it), so that means A.  It fell out of my purse/pocket (I'm horrible about keeping it in my wallet) or B.  Someone at work stole it.

I don't use it that often, except for when I don't have cash on me or when I need to get gas.  I have my card number memorized for online transactions/bill pay.  I know it's partially my fault for not being more careful with it, but it's still irritating.

I called Wells Fargo and disputed the transactions and canceled my card (the only one on there from the last week that's valid is an online one I did a couple of days ago) and they are filing a claim for me.  My new card should be here in a few days, hopefully.

So yeah, that's been my day.  Undecided

  • That's what I'm afraid of Boobs.  But I can't think who would have access to my direct line at work, cell # and my mom's cell # (she rarely uses it).

Erin, even if a coworker did call my mom, the number that would have shown up would have been our main office number not my direct line number.  If H had called her Monday evening it would have been in my call log and I hadn't called her since Sunday morning.
