All of this. It's 2 days before, what exactly these people supposed to be doing?

Plus it saves them the cost of travel to both events. Let it go.

  • Sorry, it's not your wedding week it's your wedding day.  What people choose to do 2 days before your wedding should not be an issue.  As long as those who accepted the RSVP stating they will be there are at your wedding two days later I don't see how this is at all an issue.
  • NBD = no big deal.

  • Honestly I feel sorry for the cousin.  Because you know everyone will be talking about your wedding, since it is so close and the initial reason why people came into town.  Let it go.
  • Ditto PPs.  I would do nothing.
    knotsigpicture Anniversary
  • This is really not a big deal.  And I agree with their logic of doing it while everyone is in town anyway.

  • You have to remember that people are coming in for you, not her. They are just doing this because it's convenient. They are not doing this to hurt you. Bridal showers usually only last a few hours. So, you'll still have a good portion of the day to do what you need to do. Yes, this is "your time." But really you only get one day. Try not to focus on her bridal shower. You don't want to get overworked about something you can't do anything about. You're day will come and everyone will be there to see you marry the love of your life. Okay? So, don't worry about this. This is minor detail in the big scheme of things.

    Congrats! BTWLaughing

<div>I wouldn't say they are only doing it to be convenient, it just happens to be convenient that everyone will be around for your wedding.  This way she can actually have a shower in which people will show up.  </div><div>
</div><div>I would say don't focus negatively on her shower.  It's a chance for everyone to get together.  Also, TBH it might be a nice "break" for you two days away from the wedding.  Trust me, it gets crazy and to have a distraction will be nice.</div>

Yes, I agree with you. But she is feeling upset over it and I was just trying to console her. I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't feel that way. They are doing it at a convient time. That is true. She should not see this as a negative thing. It's not. But how she feels, I'm guessing, is that she wants to focus to be on her for that week regardless of getting just 1 day. I was focusing on mainly that.
  • >>Everyone is coming out for me and we will have things to do and everyone is just going to leave me for her bridal shower!

    Uh, no.
Everyone is coming out because your parents have requested their presence at a family event.
The shower is ALSO a family event.  So since family will all be present in your town, having been requested to be there, this IS the time to have her shower.

And they aren't going to LEAVE YOU to go to the shower.  YOU are going to leave your wedding prep also, and go to the shower, because YOU are ALSO in this family.
  • sounds like you're being self centered to me. Be happy that you're having a wedding to the man you love. Your family will be there. Everything is great!

You don't need to be so rude about it or jump down my throat! I'm a human being and I have feelings!! I am allowed to be a bit peeved about this, which I WILL get over on my own time.. Not when everyone tells me to! AND I don't even know if I'm invited!
  • What can you do? Nothing.
Is it a big deal? Nope.

So what your wedding party is mostly the same as hers?  They show up, dressed, looking nice on your big day, they have no other responsibilities two days before.  If you feel like there's too much for you to do two days before your wedding, you can skip the shower and send a gift with someone else who is attending.

  • I mean, not to state the obvious... but you did post on SB.  You had to have an inkling that you wouldn't read all flowers and hearts responses?

As an only child and someone who often is labeled self-centered, even I don't see it as a huge deal.  It's family.

Thank you! As if any bride would give one big happy horse sh!t what other folks are doing for a couple of hours 2 DAYS before their wedding.

If it was your wedding day then you have the right to be ticked.

  • I agree with PPs, although I do think it would be a little rude and weird if she didn't invite you to the shower after all....
  • Right. Calling some they don't even know self centered isn't rude. Okay.
  • Sorry to butt in PP's I usually only lurk but I can't this time.  However OP you ARE being self centered and a brat.  Your family who is spread out from Chicago to Philly are all going to be in town together to celebrate YOUR wedding with you, and you are throwing a tantrum over someone else, another bride no less, is going to have the spot light for a few hours.  Like the PP's said it is your wedding DAY.  Princess the world does not revolve around you.  Incase you haven't noticed the economy sucks and unless your whole family is loaded, making two seperate trips just so you feel special just isn't economical.  And these girls haven't even came close to jumping down your throat.  My advise is grow the truck up and be happy you get to marry your soul mate...THAT is what the day is about by the way.  Love should be the center of everyones attention not you.

You really did not need to input. I don't care what you or anyone else thinks. And for all of you who are being rude, I have people who agree with me. My maid of honor agrees with me. So does my mother and my fiance. So, I'm not being selfish or a brat. It's inconvientient to have another party while a big event is going on!! It's not a freaking birthday party! It's a wedding!! Okay?! And why are you people not adressing the fact that her wedding is 10 months away! HATE TO TELL YOU PEOPLE, but YES my family is loaded!! At least the people from Chicago are! And my cousin is having TWO freaking bridal showers! One here and one there. So EFF all of you!! I can however I want to be!!
  • If you don't care what any of us think and mommy and everyone else agrees with you,  then why in God's green earth did you ask?  You wanted to know what to do, and were told.  I am sorry you didn't like the answeres, but that happens here.  Sometimes you ask a question and the only answer you get is one you don't like.  No reason to throw a hissy fit.
But since you don't care what PP's and I think and we can all "EFF off", why don't you get your designer shovels and get out of the sand box.

  • Are you all done now?

I'm glad it makes you all happy to tare me apart. Everyone just loves to be so mean online because it's anonymous. I'm a whiny brat.. Sure sure. That's why I am getting married like the rest of you. I'm not the way all of you people make me out to be. All of you decided it would be fun to attack me when you have no idea what I am really like. I wish I could delete this post, but I can't. I don't want to see what anyone else has to say.
