Snarky Brides

I had a weird morning (sad and kind of graphic)

So this morning we found this little bat on our driveway. He managed to hop his way up under our house.

Then a little later, I noticed these weird things in my neighbor's front yard. I went to see what it was and it was pieces of a cat. There was about half a tail, a piece of a foot, and some other part that I couldn't tell what it was. It was very sad.

My morning was just too bizarre not to share. How is everyone else's day going?

  • Awww sad.  Bad way to start a day.
  • Ooh, poor bat!! And poor cat. Cat sounds like classic Coyote- do you have them where you live?
  • Not a good way to start the day that's for sure :(

My day started off with cat vomit and bloody diarrhea (cat again) but is looking up now. I just have to give her antibiotics for 5 days and she should be fine.

I'm trying to get motivated to do something today, anything. I spent so much time yesterday doing stuff I just cannot motivate myself to get off the couch.
  • Katie, I'm so glad to hear your cat is going to be OK.!

My day is... going.  I feel nervous about the wedding, and there's really no specific reason why.  It's freaking me out.
  • knittibell - it's definitely possible that it was a coyote. Right in the area I live in, is all developed with houses and parks, but there are more desert-like areas not too far down the road.

Katie - I hope your kitty gets better soon! As for the lack of motivation, I'm in the same boat. I really need to clean, but I don't want to.

  • Yay Demon!

I am wanting this work day to go by quicker. I'm stuck at the desk and I'm starting to feel sick.

  • Katie--did the vet say what's wrong? Virus? eat something bad? Glad she's going to be okay!

I would probably cry if I saw cat parts in the yard. That's horrible.
  • Katie I'm glad kitty is ok!

Yeah, FI lives SO close to Boston proper, and near a large highway, and we see coyotes in the yard ALL the time- it amazes me. I'm betting it was a coyote. So, at least probably quick, and also it least it went back into the food chain, rather than, say, being hit by a car.
Ok, I'm depressing myself looking for the silver lining here, but you get my drift! :)
  • This is why my cat is an indoor cat, poor kitty.

Katie- so I take it Demon is doing better. Havent been bale to check, they actually expect me to work today.

Sarah- You'll be fine I promise. I was like this for a bit before my wedding. I had a fear I would do that "sobbing" cry and would nt make it through my vows. But the day of I was so calm, my MOH cried but I didnt.

  • I just feel like I need to do something productive. I work for a high school so we have summer off, but I fell like such a bum when Scott gets home from work and asks what I did and I have nothing to say.

Oh, and I love love love my area. Even though I had the whole "all vets closed on Wed" problem, the vet I went to today that was 2 towns over was only a 15 minute drive. I forget that the towns here are like..a mile...

  • Well I can't complain too much, since I didn't find any bats or cat parts in my parking lot this morning.  My only gripe is that I overslept a little - but that's pretty much the same as every other day of my life.

And Katie - glad to hear your cat is going to be okay!

  • If I ever found cat parts in my yard, I would cry and vomit, in no particular order.

  • Sarah - I'm sure your wedding will be perfect!

Knitti - That's a good point about it at least being quick. If nothing else, the poor cat didn't suffer.

kd - I agree. If we had a cat, it would be an indoor one. That freaks me out.

  • kd - Thanks for the words of encouragement!  It's really out of character for me to be like this.  I sat down to start work today and just stared at my computer.  I think that's why I'm so thrown.

I was just fine until about two days before the wedding. Then I was so tense I just did not know what to do with myself. I should have just taken several hours to myself to get my head clear, but I felt I could not with everything going on. Not sure when your day is, but it seems with most people that feeling comes and goes for days or weeks or months.
  • Sarah, your wedding day will be great. I'm excited to see pictures. You and your FI are too cute.

  • Aw, you guys are too nice.  Thanks!  Smile
  • Seshat - They think she has a touch of food poisoning and it's just working its way out of her system. If she's not better after the antibiotics they will run some blood tests.

I freaked the week before the wedding. I just felt like nothing was going to get done, no one was going to show up, etc. I was then jolted out of that by my rat passing away the day of my bachelorette party which brought me back down to earth. Then the night before my bm said "Dude, you're getting married in 12 hours" and we both turned into giggling 16 year olds.
  • Eek Katie. I didn't know your rat passed away right before your wedding. How awful.
    image
  • Yeah, it was a rough period of time. Jan 1st I lost my first rat, Jan 8th my great grandmother passed away (Thank god I sent her a picture of me in my dress from my Christmas fitting. Grandma said right before she passed she said "Tell Kristi she looks beautiful and I'm so happy for her"), sil's husband's father passed away a few days before my birthday (March), then August 20th my second rat had to be put down, August 29th my third rat passed away/had bachelorette party, August 30th was RD and May 1st was the wedding. My grandfather also passed away May 1st. We left for the honeymoon May 3rd.

I remember we were driving back from the airport and it all hit me and I just started sobbing in the car. Scott asked what was wrong and I just went "All my ratties are gone" and just lost it.
  • How weird, and sad :( Where in valley do you live?
  • Ooh, I see
T's mom lives down south and she gets the weirdest stuff, Javelinas, rabbits, coyotes, snakes, black widows...
  • Yah, when we lived in Tucson we would see more stuff like that. I just didn't think a coyote would come into a neighborhood, but I guess so.
