water bottles

We are obviously doing water bottles..any thoughts for those of you who have figured this out already how to keep the water bottles cold but not to mess up the diy labels? I know we should keep them in a ice bucket or whatnot but I'm afraid of them getting soggy.should I laminate the labels or is there some kind of water proof paper, what?

Re: water bottles

  • I bought water resistant labels from onlinelabels.com. I haven't tested them yet, but I have heard from girls on the DIY board that they work just fine in a bucket of water.

Another thing I considered was printing on regular labels and then "laminating" them by wrapping them with clear packing tape. I read this on the DIY board, as well, but decided to get the waterproof labels just so I had less work to do myself.

That was going to be my suggestion. When I worked in a medical office - we would mix vials and then have to put a label on them. To prevent the labels from running when we cleaned the vials with alcohol, we put tape over the labels.

    It worked fine.

  • I've seen the packing tape method as well. I'm too nervous to do that-I can barely handle packing tape on a box, let alone on something I need it to look good and wrinkle free on! So I'm just going to order waterproof labels. My mom picked up a few large metal buckets that we're going to fill with ice and put them in.

  • Water bottles.... I hadn't even thought about them yet. Good point.

  • You may want to check with your venue first and make sure that you don't need to buy the bottles from them first.  We were going to do this too and then we found out we have to buy our water bottles from them.  They are already providing huge water jugs for people to take water from so I just saw the bottles as an unnecessary expenditure.
