animals as props?  check.
using a place that is sacred to a particular culture but not their own?  check.
observing religious practices just because it looks neat?  check.

Because it is different and attention grabbing.  I've been to several Hindu weddings, and they are very long, and unless you speak Hindi (or the dialect in that area) you have no idea what is going on.

The answer to the original question is yes. I can't believe that I actually knew the answer, but it is a yes.

Oh, and both of her parents are ordained ministers (Christian - just in case you're still asleep).

Yeah, the key word is "why."  I knew her parents were Christian and I can't find anything about Brand being Hindu or having any kind of tie to Hinduism or India except that they got engaged there.
