July 2012 Weddings

Guess where we just came back from!

So, I don't know if anyone remembers this, but one of my students' parents own a ballroom dance studio and they offered 2 free dance lessons for us.

We went to our first lesson tonight. We learned how to waltz and slow dance! It was SO much fun!! Lots of toe steppings, but we finally understood how people slow danced. Her parents are so graceful and it's amazing watching them dance. My student was there, helping interpret everything for us and her parents.

FI and I are excited about our first dance now. We're going back on Tuesday.

We want to give them something to thank them. What would be a good gift? I'll ask my student and see what her parents like.

  • Awww that's so awesome that you are able to take dance lessons! I'm so glad to hear that you feel comfortable dancing, I know that has been a worry for you.  For a gift, I would say a nice bottle of wine or giftcard to a restaurant? I'm terribly uncreative in my gift giving though.

  • That's so great! I'm sure you guys will end up looking better than my FI and I will at our first dance, haha. I agree with Michelle's gift ideas!

  • I agree with the bottle of wine or gift card. Or maybe some homemade cookies or a pie, it depends on what the people like though.

  • That is so awesome!  And hopefully it will make you less nervous now for the real dance since I know that was something you were worried about!

I think a nice bottle of wine would be a great thank you!
  • That sounds so great!! I'm hoping FI and I squeeze in a dance lesson before the big day :) I agree with PP about wine or a GC to a nice restaurant. I think either of those would be a great gift!!!

  • That is so awesome!  I still want to do this but not sure we have time before the wedding!  I have a friend who was going to do it but he and his wife just had a baby this week so I refuse to ask him to take time away from his family right now.  I think a bottle of wine and gift card would be great!

  • Just make sure they drink before you give them a bottle of wine ;-) Although if FI and I got one - we'd probably just use it when we had company over - so it'd still be a nice gift.

Sounds like a good time. :o) Glad it went well!
