Time to bring back: The Thanksgiving Letter

http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/2009/11/26/awkward-family-story-the-thanksgiving-letter/

Missy's post about her aunt getting pissy over not having T-giving the way she wants it reminds me.

    hahahah what an absolute classic

    i forgot about that!

I think i should send out a Thanksgiving letter this year.  It would tell the guests NOT to bring anything.  This is not a pot-luck.  Come.  Eat.  Enjoy.

I don't even think I have a serving spoon. I use soup spoons or the wooden spoons I cook with. Nor do I have serving dishes with lids, I always use tin foil. Clearly I am unprepared for the demands of Thanksgiving.

I'm right there with you, Sesh.  I have 3 serving dishes and none of them have lids.  They also wouldn't fit 15 pounds of potatoes between the 3 of them.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

[QUOTE]I like how she is already all pissy at The Amy Misto family who own't even bother to read the letter. Geeeee, I wonder why?? I would show up with a gallon of water, a veggie/peanut butter snack pack for each person, and a cake knife.

I'd be tempted to bring all the ice cream toppings, but no ice cream. Then act all innocent when she says it was on my list.

My uncle just sent everyone a FBPM asking for special requests, or if anyone wants to cook something specific, but certainly no demands. Then he ended it with him making sure we are stocked up on black olives for my fingers. He knows me so well.

The only reason I can see her asking the June Davis family not to bring "the over-size blue serving dish you used last year" is because she had asked them last year to bring 15lbs of mashed potatoes and they did, but it was too large of a serving dish to fit on the table or be passed around by everyone. I bet she went apeshit when they discovered that last year.

My guess is that June Davis just backed up her blue car to the table and opened her trunk full of 15 pounds of mashed potatoes.

[QUOTE]Pet peeve - do you know what makes me insane? We host several big parties throughout the year. Occassionally, people will ask if they can bring anything. Usually, I will decline, but sometimes they are insistent that they want to bring something (i.e. dessert). Ok, Tommy, you are bringing dessert, so I will plan accordingly and not make a dessert. So what happens? Tommy brings.....chips. Thanks, Tommy, we had that covered. Now we don't have a  dessert, and I have 20 bags of chips (becauise everyone brought chips too). If you volunteer to bring something, bring it. We had a cookout once where the person who was supposed to bring buns brought frigging chips. Thanks, but I can't fit a burger on a Pringle.

That kind of stuff pisses me off. I had a birthday party planned by a friend and myself where I bought all the food and she was bringing the beer and soda. She showed up three hours late, then bitched because we went to the bar and didn't tell her. We were thirsty, MORON,

I prefer something with a slide personally. That way you get better leverage when you full body nom on the pile.
