Really, really sick. It caught a virus and I can't get on the Internet, any anti-virus software or system restore. I know this is a long shot, but can anyone help?
ETA: Oh, and I know I'm a huge doofus for getting a virus.
When this happened to me, I took my laptop the the Geek Squad. But since I didn't have my recovery discs they wouldn't touch it.
So I brought it to work and asked our IT guys to look at it and they fixed it.
I dunno if that helps - but our IT guys fixed it for free, and if I would have had the discs I prolly would have paid a couple hundred bucks at the Geek Squad.
Download AVG onto a flash drive and run it via flash drive install. Also, depending on how bad it is, you may need to do a reformat of your machine. If you're flailing, I can probably have H help you this weekend. (He has more patience for this than I do.)

You don't have any computer dudes at your job? You could just ask them before you take it in (if you do want to take this advice). That's what I did. Haha, I've taken it in twice.
And don't feel bad about catching a virus - it can happen to anyone. I think Facebook carries a TON of viruses and everyone uses it.

I took mine to Best Buy as well and they did a good job, but it was expensive. I agree with AATB--if there's anyone who can look into it, I'd go that route first.

If this doesn't work, try Tamiflu.

NS, I know this is dumb, but what is AVG?

I have IT *women*, AATB. Jeez. Don't be so sexist.
No, I'm kidding. I work for a huge company, so they're not accessible.
I don't know the virus's name. How do I find that out? I'm really quite dumb, you guys.
