There might be, but tough schit. She could have written this all out, then just hit the Cancel button instead of the Submit button. And I'm sure plenty of other people are having bad days/weeks/months/years, but they don't post hateful, racist messages about their issue.
In Response to Re: Enough already!! (SB 1070 related) : EXACTLY. FWIW, I knew an illegal immigrant who was from Ireland. While they removed the provision about officers being able to basically racially profile people they stopped (necessitating immigrants to keep proof of citizenship on them at all times), the intent of the entire bill seems hateful, IMO.
    Posted by msmerymac
I am glad they removed that from bill. I saw it on the news. I think was what bothered me most. I understand that if a crime is being committed or a law is being broken the arrest officer should have a right to as the person in question their legal status.
I passed it.  And my friend who is in the process of becoming a citizen can pass it.  BUT he is from a wealthy family, learned English in school, etc--I cannot imagine facing it without those advantages.

<div>My FI could pass it, because he learned more about American history growing up in Romania than I retained going to school here for 18+ years. He has been eligible for citizenship for about a year, but doesn't want to pay the $600 filing fee or take off work to go sit in line for hours/days to get it done.  </div>

Guess you didn't do your research, you just rant and rave like a lunatic.
let me educate you a little: Immigrants are willing to work for lower wages than legal workers, helping to keep down prices. They don't send all their money to Mexico as you may think, they spend their money here buying food, clothing, houses, cars, etc. I actually know immigrants with huge houses and pretty nice cars. That's because they work hard, long hours, overtime, weekends, in labor, construction, refineries. Not all get paid min wage. Immigrants raised U.S. gross domestic product by $37 billion in 2007, and were twice as likely as native-born Americans to start a new business between 1996 and 2008, employing 450,000 workers in 2005. If illegals were to get kicked out, their US employers would probably follow it's employees and start producing in Mexico. Why would the U.S want to kick them out when they actually help our economy ?

The reason the SB 1070 has caused such attention is because alot of people agree that it's unconstitutional. I live in Houston where it's quote-unquote a sanctuary city, nobody gets asked of their legal status when they get pulled over, even detained, the only time that's even discussed if when an inmate gets sent to TX department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). Asking someone for their legal status is just not necessary.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. I don't think so.  Not judging by her responses so far in the thread.  Maybe in a couple hours.

    Or maybe never.

Sadly, a lot of people believe as she does.  Some are ashamed to admit it; others -- obviously -- aren't.  I'm not inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt when he hasn't earned it.

  • She wasn't banned.  It looks like she just deleted her information and changed up her privacy settings so you cant view her old posts.  If she was banned when you try to click on her profile it would say that her account was deactivated.

  • Okay, before I leave for lunch let me clear up a few things:

    1) I'm sorry to disappoint those of you crossing your fingers that I will have a change of heart. While I do think that I could have worded the post with more tact, I stand firm by the contents of the post.

    2) The issues surrounding this bill and immigration in general, is obviously a very heated topic. The popular, politically correct stance to take is one that causes very little upset. I don't stand for amnesty, I don't believe in open borders, I don't support those who break the law.

    3) I am not against immigration. I am against illegal immigration.

    4) If loving my country enough to want Her borders to be defended is racist...then I guess I am. Although - I was always under the impression that racism was hatred toward a race. Which I am not. That's just silly to go there - but that's the default leftist argument every time.

    5) I am Danish. I would never go to Denmark and wave an American flag. I will respect the country I am in...whether that is Denmark, Mexico or America.

    6) I am so sick and tired of much-needed bills being drafted only to be revised once the public uproar has deemed it unpopular. Its sad to look even ten years back and see how this country has been so negatively affected by politicians lacking a backbone. What is popular isnt always right and what is right isnt always popular.

    7) That's absolutely okay with me if my opinion is one that gets me banned. Its a very controversial topic and one which I refuse to sugar-coat. Many will (and have been) offended...mostly due to a lack of understanding/assumption that those who hold this "radical" point of view must be full of hate and racism.

    8) As many of you know (or ah-hem dont know), the bill was only passed in part. That in itself was a huge dissapointment. As I read the news, I was horrified to see hundreds of protesters surrounding the court building and infiltrating the roads in unforeseen proportions. The most controversial parts of the bill were either put "on hold" or completely disregarded...what more do the protesters want?? The hate-filled signs, the tears they are shedding for the media, the promises to "kill" our sheriff, the threats to our police officers and the unwarranted chaos subjecting citizens and law enforcement to unnecessary danger is as nauseating as it is infuriating.

    9) It is much easier to disagree with someone by accusing them to be hate-filled racists or incompetent idiots. It is much braver to take a serious look at an opposing opinion and evaluate it objectively.

    10) In summary, I could have approached this topic more sensitively. But then again, the protesters promising "revenge" surely are not concerned with tact.

The knot keeps freezing up on me, so that's it for the post...
