Hair Help

Hokay, so I'm going tomorrow after work to get my hair cut and I have no idea what I should do.  Usually I show up and browse through a magazine for a bit and my stylist and I sorta decide on something or I just tell her to do whatever.

Here is what my hair looks like today (I even blow dried it!)

I'm slowly growing out my last cut, which I like to refer to as the wig that the Russian spy wears in the movies:

My H was not a fan of the bangs at all.  So, no straight across bangs this time.

Suggestions?  Ideas?

I'm also scheduled to get partial highlights done, since my roots are atrocious.  I've done the darker hair thing before, and it was kinda meh.

It lightened up as time went on and I was told my hair was the same colour as a Cocker Spaniel.  I think for now I'll stick with blonde.

Re: Hair Help

  • I definitely like the blonde better. Beyond that, I'm really no help. I actually like the bangs. :) Could you do a bob with out cutting the bangs?

  • I like the side bangs! Would you do those?

  • I think side bangs would be ok.  I've pretty well had those for ever and they work.  Maybe I'll deepen my part or something....

  • I like the blonde too, but not the straight-across bangs.  Side swept looks good on you.

  • Here's what my hair was like this time last year, maybe that again?

    Also, yay for HM tans.

  • Oooh. I love the last year pic.
  • What about even shorter?

  • But shorter is scary.  But then, it's just hair.

  • I like the blonde and side swept bangs. What about an angled bob where it's longer in the front then gets shorter in the back?

  • I've pimped out this picture before. But when I donated my hair, I had to cut it really short, but I actually LOVED it. It was soooo easy to take care of. I'll probably go back to it after the wedding.

Thanks, Cew! I'll probably chop it off again soon. It's pretty long now and so very, very thick. I feel like I have a sweater on my head.

    Do a pixie!!
  • MILF, that's an awesome look for you.  Maybe I'll go there.  I used to have a *gulp* Kate Goselin type cut, but not that drastic.

I don't think I can pull of a pixie cut yet.  Maybe when I'm down another 5% body fat, but not now!

  • ooooh i love the pic of your hair last year!

also, my hair gets fluffy like yours does and i've found that the angled look doesn't work as well for me as it does for people whose hair lies flat and sleek. lol! i agree that you should deepen your part a bit. As far as color goes, add lowlights but don't go all-over dark!

This is me and my hair is super short. I'm 87% sure that I'm going to make an appointment to have it completely chopped again. I just can't stand it. I am going to be a short hair girl for the rest of my life.
  • SarahSmile, good to know about the angled bob and "fluffy" hair.

Lowlights are a good call for fall too.  Perhaps I'll see if there's time for me to get in for full hightlights instead of just partials.

So, deeper part, side swept bangs, shorter.  Does that sum it up?

It's irritating. I go through stages where I grow it out and then chop it off. My hair has been every possible length. I'm definitely ready for a chop.

  • yes from me on all but the "shorter." i like the length it was last year, but not shorter than that. i think i am outnumbered, though!

    and lowlights. *ducks*

Youre looking really great btw raynes! How much have you lost now on NROL4W?

oh, i agree that you look  great! and i want to say that i didn't mean your hair was "fluffy" as much as it's not "fine/bone straight/sleek." i was on the phone and didn't have the best word choice there.
  • SarahSmile, shorter than now, maybe close to last years length.  I've got a bit shorter before and it was good.  Really, I just need some of the weight gone.

Nebb, thanks!  As per stupid weigh-in-wednesday I'm only 1.5 lbs down from when I started in Jan, but as of my last body fat check (about a month ago) I was down 8.3 lbs of fat.  I've got another 2 weeks or so until I check inches and body fat again.

That is awesome, so youve gained a lot of muscle. How are the workouts now?
  • Sarah, it's ok!  I'd never thought of it as fluffy before, but it totally can be.

The workouts are still tough.  Stage 7 is just go go go go go and hardly ever rest.  I feel like puking every time.  But at the same time, that's kinda awesome.  I do, however, feel like I'm losing some hip mobility, which is bad.

Uh oh, be careful you dont hurt yourself :( I hate injuries. My knees still give me grief sometimes, its normally due to form but it happens way too easily.
  • Yeah, I've been taking care to do a good bit of dynamic stretching before hand, I find that helps a LOT.

Dynamic stretching? There was a woman at my gym I always got a kick out of watching, she would stretch for a good 15-20 minutes and each move she did she would pulse strongly and she looked absolutely ridiculous.
  • Just moving for stretching.  Pulsing is no good.  The program I want to do next has a crazy warmup.  It does get the neurons firing though.

Whats next? Howt the hell do you stay so motivated? Im struggling so much with motivation.
  • I think Female Body Breakthrough, but I'm also toying with the idea of either doing NROL4W again, or maybe the Perfect Body Diet (that has a workout program too).  I think I'm going to go to the library on my way home and see if they have the second one.

As for staying motivated, I just make myself do it.  When I start trying to talk myself out of going to the gym, I give myself a mental slap and just get 'er done.  Now, if only I could actually lose some weight.....
