I need simple centerpieces, since we are serving family style and need room on the tables for platters. I picked up all this glassware, and about 132 votive holders, which are actually ikea juice glasses, at a garage sale run by a local rental company:
After a trip to Joann's and 2 trips to Michaels this afternoon, this is what I came up with. Each table will have one tall pedestal candle holder, wrapped in printed vellum and purple ribbon, which will also serve as the table number. It will be surrounded by the votive holders (6-8 per table):

I
I lit the candles, so we could see what it looks like, and I really like it:
So here are the questions:
1- Do you prefer the crystals in the votives (left) or the pearls (right)? They are both colored purple, even though they look brown in the pic.
2- FI doesn't like the pearl garland. He says that pearl and silver don't go with ivory and purple. Um. Ok. I feel like I need something in that space to create some sort of interest. I think that the candlelight reflecting on the pearls is very pretty. What do you think?
3- Would it look better if I found a plain ivory strand of pearls and wrapped the bottom of the pedestal with it?
4- There is a seam on the back of the pedestal because I wrapped it with vellum and ribbon. FI wants me to cover the seam with ribbon, but I think that would just call more attention to it. Thoughts?
