Snarky Brides

Someone please help me stay sane....

I'm 5 weeks away from leaving for my wedding and I have never been this emotional before... and it's driving me insane. Did anyone else have this problem right before they got married? I can't stop getting choked up about everything (even non-wedding related). I picked up my newly dyed wedding shoes and bawled my eyes out. I really think I'm starting to scare my cats....PLEASE HELP ME.

  • What's going wrong? Is it just from the stress of having to get everything done or is there an issue you can link it to?

If it's just stress, I'd say devote one night a week to having a glass of wine and a good long soak in a bubble bath and detox.
  • Dude... I'm closer to my wedding than you are and I have yet to fall apart.  Now quit making me nervous.

  • Ditto AATB. We are 2 weeks out. No tears. Then again I didn't cry when he proposed and i lack the.compassion gene so....

  • I'm actually not stressed... it's really weird. I don't usually cry but now I can't stop. I think that I'm just getting to the point where everything is planned and done and I'm finally able to breathe. Must be all that pent up emotion.

  • If it's 5 weeks out and you're this stressed, you should probably try to find a way to slow things down. Can you take a break from planning for a week? Have your FI take care of stuff in the interim?

I got pretty stressed in the few weeks prior, because we moved 3 weeks before the wedding and my family were all coming to visit and stay in our tiny one-bedroom apartment. I had a stupid freakout the day before the wedding because I couldn't decide what to wear to the rehearsal dinner, and the sweet potatoes I was trying to eat were too dry. Yup, I was a blubbering mess over that. I just cried it out in front of my sister and mom, and then I felt much better. Sometimes a good, ridiculous cry can help immensely. :) It will get better. This is a happy time in your life!

  • Sorry Blue and AATB. I didn't cry when FI proposed either, however I had been drinking a lot so that might have influenced the situation.

  • Crying was not my problem. The day of the wedding I felt vaguely sick to my stomach and very tense until the ceremony and then it was all good. In the two weeks or so before the wedding, I only thought about anything else while I was at work.

Whatever you are feeling is okay, and if you need to cry every day until you get there do it, just try to take some time out from the wedding stuff and do non-related things. I think that helps.
  • I got emotional at weird stuff leading up to the wedding too, like when I went to my florist and saw my centerpieces and bouquet all made up I completely lost it and was crying and the florist was all confused, but it really was a happy cry! I think it's normal to get more emotional as your wedding is approaching but if you start to get too stressed out maybe put the brakes on wedding stuff for at least a weekend or so.

[QUOTE]I almost cried on Scott in a parking lot today because I was running late to class and I had to eat my sandwich in my car and I accidentally got Bitter Yuck on it which I had to buy to spray on my dog's cyst so she would stop licking it which is why I was running late. But I'm also crazy so there's that.

I hate that stuff. It's like herpes. We spray it on computer wires for the cats, and we haven't even sprayed it at all in weeks and we still suddenly taste it every once in a while. It's so irritating.
