Changing my name with my university has been a bit of a process.
It was fairly simple, I just had to show our license and fill out a form, but I screwed it up by writing my H's name in the "correct name" space, where I was supposed to fill out MY name! Oops.
Now that the (correct) change has been approved, it's taking a while to filter through all of the university 'layers'-email, student roster, e-learning, student account, payroll, etc.
My supervisor, the professor who oversees my student teaching placement, keeps giving me crap for changing my name, making snide remarks about how it would be so much easier if I kept my name until after I graduate or "just never change it!" Every time I see her she mentions it and it is really grating on my nerves-hello, I want my married name on my degree!
Apparently there is no name choice that goes unscrutinized by someone-change it, keep it, hyphenate it, everyone has an opinion!
Why do people feel the need to tell you what to do with YOUR name?
