Sounds like horseshit to me lol. Maybe it's because of where I live but swearing in public definitely isn't something people worry about here, except at maybe a Sioux hockey game. And in that case well then you are probably just too close to the student section. I think most people know its not polite or appropriate to swear in public or like in front of kids.

There are also laws all over the country from back in the day saying premarital sex, oral sex, and anal sex are all illegal.  Are they going to enforce THOSE too?

Lol, most of those stupid laws that still exist are not enforced.  But once in awhile you get a town here who wants to enforce it.  Just like the no smoking outside anywhere (including your own porch) thing they want to enforce here.  Its just stupid.  People need to mind their own business and remember that this is a free country and those freedoms are protected.  Just because you dont like something doesnt mean you have the right to take that right away from them.

Small town, the south, gay men.  I don't have specific dates or anything, but it still happens on occasion in really homophobic areas.

I'm not actually crazy, I read LGBT news sources, which report on things that tend to be ignored by mainstream media.  Most of the things I've read tend to be about the south, but yeah, it's lame of me to generalize the whole south as homophobic.  I was just fairly certain that what I had read took place in the south, hence my comment.

But that article doesnt talk about specific arrests or what the situation was.  It very well may be talking about people being arrested for sex in public who were also being charged with sodomy.  Thats quite different than simply arresting someone for just buttsex.

It's hard to find details on cases, so yeah, I don't have all the facts.  The case only dealt with things in a private home, consensual, not for money.  Prostitution and indecent exposure are still illegal, so why wouldn't the articles mention those crimes as well?  The Attorney General was specifically talking about sex that is consenual and in a private location as being illegal when it wasn't anymore.  That leads me to assume that that's the crime people were arrested for.

As to how they get caught, in the case of Lawrence v. Texas, a jilted lover called in a false report about weapons.  Police went into the home, found two men having sex and arrested them.
