WR-invites

This is probably NOT where I should be posting this.  But I'm in a really raunchy mood, and figured you bidies would tell it to me straight.

Would it be completely tacky to go to the craft store and make my own invites?

Saturday night, formal sit down dinner with reception immediately following the ceremony at the venue.

FI and I were supposed to make a decision on invites today, before he left for his business trip.  But ONCE AGAIN, Delta f*cked him good, cancelled his flight home from Charleston SC yesterday, so he was forced to rent a car and drive to Ohio.  Considering we have 75 days til the wedding, I figured we really can't wait anymore.

this will probably seem a lot less annoying/important to me after a few drinks, but in the meantime...thoughts, comments, wwyd?

  • It depends on your craftiness. If you have the skill to pull off nice, formal invites then I think they will be nice and personal. They do take forever to make though.

I got a DIY box set from Target and I thought they turned out really nice. We had fun with the font, added a ribbon and did some embossing to make them more personal.
  • I don't think that is a bad idea. How good are you at DIY?

I personally like DIY IF, and this is a big IF, you are good at it. Michaels and other places also have invite kits that you (or a local printer) print the info on. And they are fairly in-expensive. If you're a wal-marter, sometimes they have good deals on clearance invites that look nice. Just some suggestions.

My BFF bought invite kits on sale and had a printing company do the printing and I thought they looked super nice.

  • I even saw those invitation kits at Staples the other day, though not as big a variety as you find at a craft store.

  • I am good at it, and normally I do enjoy DIY projects.  This was just 1 of those thinks I figured that it would pay to entrust to a 'pro' and free up some of my time.

I do like the embossing idea, makes regular cards look kinda' fancy.  So, I'm gonna head over to Michaels.

  • I did my own invites from a kit (with 40% off coupon from JoAnns) and they were very nice.  There are templates to use for the wording and spacing.

  • What's a bidie?
  • Cew, I think she meant old biddies.

OP, We got a kit from Michaels and jazzed it up with a different colored ribbon and a colored font. They came out really nice, according to others who have seen them. It is possible, and I'm not crafty at all.

I think it's just slang for girls. I usually hear it used in refrence to old women "old bidies"

lol, it actually means chicken or newly hatched chick.  But me + my friends like to think of it as a combination of lady + bitch...in a good way.

thanks for the help ladies, sorry I didn't answer right away.  I literally ran out to Michaels, and AC Moore an Joann's...where I actually found some cool centerpices! :)

  • Wal-Mart carries some of the same kits as Michaels for less.

  • I noticed Michaels was definitely the most expensive of the 3.  Off to Walmart I go :)

  • Michaels offers 40% off coupons that will save you. I got my kit there and used it as a starting point, but I lined the envelopes, created round inserts and wrap around labels to make them "mine". GL!
