Im simple. I generally drink coors light. When I go out, if they have it, I will have big wheel by amsterdam breweries (toronto). I would drink it all the time but they only sell it at one liquor store which is the opposite side of town from me and they only sell it in 6 packs which is a pain in my ass. Ive not tried any microbrews, though I want to, I just never have the means or the time.

Oh, I also like various sleeman breweries beers and stella artois.

  • I will only drink beer if it is really cheap at a bar...or I want to get drunk quicker and easier.  Or if it is the only item available.  I am no big beer drinker! :)

  • I don't drink beer. I did in high school but never even really liked it then. I like wine (red and white) and vodka, and rum, and peach shnapps, and anything that is pink, and anything blended.

  • All I have to add is that I can get pretty close to drunk with just 2 beers. Which is partly why I don't drink. I'm way too much a lightweight.
  • Oh gosh, I love beer. Living in Delaware, I really got to appreciate the cheapness and deliciousness of Yuengling, so I guess that's my go-to cheap beer when I'm in a Yuengling area. But I like so many things. I'll pretty much try any kind of lager or ale, and I like most of them. Flying Fish, Newcastle, Smithwicks, Stella.... I'm forgetting all the names because I'm in Italy now and it's been weeks since I had anything other than crummy Peroni. But I like it all.

  • Ooh, and Sierra Nevada beers are great. And there's something with a moose in the name that I had recently that rocked.

  • Favorite cheap beer?   Errr probably Coor Light.  Though I've become a bit of a beer fanatic and am not really drinking it all that much...

Favorite specialty beer? Uni Broue, cherry and raspberry German beers oh and this other German beer with honey and cloves that I can never remember the name of.  I just point to it on the menu.

Favorite microbrew? This peach beer from my area

All around favorite?  Blue Moon and Honey Moon
Any other beer information you care to share?  Come visit me in Philly.  If you love beer I will take you to this awesome German beerhall.  We could drink for four days and never try the same beer twice!

Cheap: Miller High Life (c'mon, it's the champagne of beers) or Schlitz, partly because it sounds SO... cheap.

Specialty: Leinie's Fireside Nut Brown, or Sam Adams Dunkelweizen

Microbrew: Arbor Brewing Company's Bavarian Bliss (Ann Arbor, MI) or New Holland's Dragon's Milk Scotch Ale (Holland, MI).

I'm pretty much obsessed with microbrews.  I've been to half of the 72 in the lower peninsula of Michigan.

Ha ha this actually made me giggle.  I want a blue moon right now but I'm out and I don't have the desire to drive to the store.

Do most of your grocery stores and gas stations sell alcohol??  I gotta say NJ sucks in terms of this.....we can only buy alcohol and liqueur stores.  Totally a bummer.
  • I am in MA. No beer at gas and liquor stations here, unless you are near the NH border. We have booze on Sundays now though (yay!).

I am from NYC, where booze is accessible 24/7. I miss that sometimes.

  • Favorite cheap beer? Newcastle... it's not really "cheap" beer like Bud Light or something, but I'm not really a fan of any of those.

Favorite specialty beer? I recently had a Peach Wheat by a brewpub in town that was awesome. But I also like PumpkinHead by Shipyard.

Favorite microbrew? Hard to say... Abita does some amazing things, and I miss them. Their Restoration Ale was the shiz

All around favorite? Fueller's London Pride, when it's served in the traditional style out of a cask. You can get it here in the states in a bottle but it's just not the same. :(

Any other beer information you care to share? Homebrewing is fun and also science, so you feel cool and smart when you do it. Plus you get like 50 bottles of your own, personal brew afterwards that cost you less than $1 each. Which reminds me... we need to pick what we're brewing next!

  • Well, we just moved south and it seems that beer can be sold just about anywhere here and DH is super excited to see piles of beer at Target, but at home (PA):

    - Liquor and wine only from state stores

    - Beer only from the beer distributor, and only by the case or the keg.  If you pick up a 1/2 case they make you get a second one.  Some pizza places/bottle stores that sell food and bars have overpriced 6 packs and 40s.

    - Selling beer on a Sunday has only been permitted for a few years.

    - Number of liquor licenses depends on the municipality's population unless purchased from another restaurant.  It was a big deal when our hometown got a liquor license.  There is still only one, at the crappiest pizza place in town.

    - We pretty much can't order alcohol online from anywhere

    <div>I giggled too!</div><div>
</div><div>I hate MN liquor laws.  I grew up in WI- you can buy booze 8a-10p every day of the week, from anywhere you want, including gas stations and every grocery store (Even Target has a full aisle of wine and beer and liquor).</div><div>
</div><div>Here in MN- only alcohol (including beer) until 8 pm, and closed on Sundays.  You can only buy 3.2 in grocery stores; everything else has to be at an actual liquor store.  I've made more than a few border runs to pick up booze ;)</div>
  • In KS you can buy beer in a grocery store, but if it's sold anywhere but a liquor store it must be under 3.5%. So basically, if you want a weaker version of your fav beer, just buy it at the grocery store! It blows, because I in Louisiana (at least New Orleans) they sold beer everywhere.

  • There are very few liquor stores in Louisiana because you can buy everything you want at most grocery stores. I thought it was weird when I moved to Texas, where you can only get beer and mixers.

I have to run off to the grocery now because I need Guiness for a recipe and we can't buy on Sundays before noon. By that time all the after church screaming children are there, and they have taken all the good cereal and produce. So I'll see y'all in a bit, Im on a beer (and groceries) run!

Well, a bar or a pizza place with a liquor license.  Our alcohol laws are really annoying.  When we wanted a half case we just carried it across the Mason Dixon.

Although MD bars are an issue sometimes for PA licenses.  They wouldn't serve one of our friends at DH's bachelor party or another one of our friends at our after party because they renewed their licenses before turning 21, which meant they had vertical licenses.  MD and PA both switch to horizontal licenses when renewed at/after 21, but some people in PA have to renew at 20.  There is an often not enforced MD law that they can only accept horizontal licenses, regardless of age.
  • Fuuuuck, now I want a beer and I can't have one.
