Snarky Brides

"Traditional marriage" / article prompted by Prop 8

Saw this on FB & had to share. Not sure if it has made the Knot rounds yet (if so sorry )

I love it, but I'm a crazy feminist and many traditions concerning weddings rub me the wrong way.

  • I LOVED that article.  I discovered that I knew a lot less than I thought I did about weddings...and managed to get a disturbing mental image after reading about where the garter toss originated.

    Thanks for posting that link!

image Love people. Use things. Never confuse the two.
  • I've also read that it came from the guests trying to get a piece of the bride's clothing as they left for good luck. So the bride would throw the bouquet and the groom the garter to distract them as they made their get away.
  • Love the article. Makes me glad I'm not doing the garter toss.

Also makes me frustrated once more that same sex marriage is not universally legal. The arguments against it are just so ridiculous you just have to wonder how anyone can continue to spout them.

<div>I wonder this too!!!  Their arguments are all political BS and have no valid points!</div><div>
</div><div>The only counter argument I came up with was that it didn't make sense to protect the sanctity of marriage with a divorce rate of 50% .. but that article had a lot of good points!</div><div>
</div><div>Too bad the people who disagree with us are using God as their excuse.. meaning the masses won't think about the validity of their argument.  You can't have a debate with someone who truly believes it is God's word (when it is actually a homophobe manipulating them).</div>
  • very interesting article!

  • Awesome. Thank you.
  • Marriage is, and always has been, a constantly evolving tradition that never fails to incorporate the latest shifts in culture and climate, changing social habits, fashions and even fads. (Because, seriously, that chicken dance is not in the Bible.)

    That was my favorite.
