Snarky Brides

NS

Husband is alive and well. The bar was a restaurant/bar at the mall so they ate dinner there but did not drink. I was still pissed about him spending $65 between two people, but at least he wasn't drinking and driving.
His work bonus also hit last night while I was checking our account which shuffled crap around and confused the hell out of me (like changing our credit from my paycheck to the lower amount, by shoving my paycheck out of pending).

So all is well in Kristi land again.

Re: NS

  • They didn't purchase any vehicles? ;)

  • No thank god, just Godiva chocolates and a help book for Scott's new video game.

Poor bil started crying a little in the car on the way to the airport though. This assignment has been so much harder than they realized it would be on the family as a whole.
  • Oh :( Is there a reason BIL can't get a job in the US?

  • He works for the gov't, in such a position that those other than his wife are not allowed to know what. He volunteered for a 2 year assignment in Liberia because it would help him get a promotion and a slight raise. He did a 2 year assignment in Nigeria before sil got pregnant, then during her pregnancy, which wasn't huge, because Scott was here to take care of her.

They are learning that it's a different story with a wife, house, and 4 year old daughter. Plus his father passed away over a year ago and his mother (who is in her mid 80's) is not doing well. Sil also had to put their dog (14 years old) down a couple of months ago. It's been rought.
  • Ohhh I see. I had it in my head he was a contractor or something of that nature. That's a lot for her to deal with alone, and it would suck for him to not be there to help. It's great that Scott is there for his neice, but gosh she's hardly going to know her daddy.

  • Yeah. Scott was living with sil until Z was 2, then moved in with me. It's hard too because Z really doesn't have a concept of greater amounts of time, so she doesn't get that dad's leaving for a while. He'll want to play or something and she just goes "Daddy, I don't want to play with you now. We'll play later." But there won't be a later because he's getting on a plane for 2 months.
  • Aren't they trying for another child? They'd have to time his visits perfectly.

  • Yeah they want to have a second asap. Z was conceived while he was in Africa the first time so it's been done before, but yeah. She's 37 and he's 36 so they have a lot going against them right now.
  • My mom was 35 when she had little brother. There's a nice 17 year gap between oldest and youngest. It seems like a lot of people are waiting until they're older now.

  • Yeah. It seems like a lot of people are starting later in their 30's now. I also think that's part of why there are so many trouble ttc stories out there now.

My neighbor is crazy. He does not look a day over 40, but they have a 35 year old, 25 year old, 16 year old and 11 year old. It is really weird to think I could be friends with his kids, and that one kid is H's age.

Ironically I also just got my social security statement "Due to lack of funds and the anticipated future work force, we are estimating that the social security program will be extinguishd by the year 2037 unless reform occurs."

Great...so now you are blatently telling me that I'm giving you money I won't be able to use when I'm old. Excellent.
  • Whhhaaa?
I want my s.s. money back then!

  • Hi Kristi, I'm glad you didn't have to punch Scott in the face.
