*Knitti*

Whats up? I see you all over the cape board which is a rare thing because that place is dead. Any luck with the venue search?

Re: *Knitti*

  • Hey Mrs! I was JUST admiring your photos- SIgh. What a gorgeous wedding you have!! No luck yet, venue-wise. I'm from the Cape, but FI and I live near Boston now.

I was married and widowed young, and my sister in law is coming over from the UK for 2.5 weeks on the 30th- we'll mostly stay at the family cottage in Brewster, and I can't wait- my nephew just turned 7, and he's becoming the spitting image of my late husband, which is a bit bittersweet, but mostly great.

So I need to co-ordinate w/ my sil about a date that would work, because schools in the UK are really picky about kids being taken out for trips and such. FI and I would like an early Fall wedding (ie early October)... and I'd prefer to have it at an Inn or Hotel, because we can't afford to have all the kids at the wedding, so I'll get baby sitters I know and trust and hire them for the night in a couple of rooms/suites.

We're looking at 2012, which seems ridiculous, but we currently both own houses, and need to sell/combine, and we ned a long lead time because of my late husband's family in the UK, and fi's mum is British and all her side are in the UK- so the more notice we give them, the better they are for saving/travel. Also, when I feel lousy from treatments or illness, I think about planning the wedding and it makes me happy.

Our wedding is SO far away, but I'm all excited about it. I worked as an event planner for 10 years but had to stop because of some auto-immune diseases which make my health unpredictible. It's great to look forward to planning something again- and I've even seen a couple of Boston girls who I may help do all their flowers and whatnot. It's funny, because I know it's stressful for so many girls, but I just love planning events, and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Mostly I'm excited about planning my fi's dream party. I had my dream wedding

back in 2004, and it was very small, very formal and in the UK. Now I'm looking forward to planning something really non-traditional based on my fi's favorite things. I can't wait.

Sorry, this turned into a Novel!! :)

  • Your first wedding was beautiful, Knitti. I'm excited to see what you do for your upcoming shindig!

Aw, thanks! It was fun, apart from planning it from across the pond- none of my vendors had e-mail, and they thought I was crazy insisting on a tasting. The cool thing is, to this DAY shots of my wedding appear in ads over there, and I'm known throughout the area as "the American Wedding" LOL! Like, the woman who did my flowers will tell my MIL that another bride asked for the "American Wedding Flowers"

But having lost my husband to an elderly driver a year and a month after our wedding, I'm doubly glad we did it big- my late husband was an amazing guy, and the wedding was fabulous.

We just got back from my friend's AMAZING wedding in Spain (where fi popped the question, when we were in Valencia!), which started around noon and went until 1AM. This was how my first wedding went, and FI was like "THIS IS A FREAKING PARTY"  Now I'm struggling with places that give you a strict 4-5 hours, or your event must end at 10PM. I'm working on it!
