I have to present in front a group of maybe 100 teachers tomorrow night...I am one of three people in a panel group doing a keynote presentation for a provincial conference. And of course, of course, I left my presentation til tonight. I am the worst procrastinator ever. I so don't want to do this and I have no idea how much they are paying me but it isn't worth it right now.

I might get highlights tomorrow though...that's not related to the above vent. Just a side note. Because I am procrastinating. Again.

Tell me something interesting/amazing/horrible/boring/creative/odd/ that happened to you today...in other words, feed the procrastination.

YAY for highlights I have been thinking about doing that for awhile now.

As for me FI and I decided to do our engagement shoot in the next few weeks. I am freakin terrified and excited at the same time. Very strange combination.

I realized that when I booked Vegas tickets for myself and 9 other people, I put the wrong first name for one of my friends.  He goes by a nickname 100% of the time, and FI told me his name was something that it isn't.  I called Spirit to change it, and they are telling me there's no way, short of cancelling the flight and rebooking, which will cost me. 

Dammitttt.  Serves me right for not checking with the friend directly.

Today was a nothing day. I think DH and I had some bad sushi last night, so we pretty much just laid around like lumps all day. I also must have slept funny, because my neck is killing me. Blech.

However, we just ordered dinner (because we're being lumps, naturally), and it should be here soon. I'm pretty excited about it. We've never gotten food from there before.

Apparently you send them your old, used bridesmaid dress and they give you a credit towards buying a brand-new LBD. And some of them are really cute! I'm considering this right now, TBH. I have a friggin' ton of dresses I could get rid of.

Me too, Number.  I don't understand.  What shady shiit do they think I'm trying to pull?  It's a common R name exchanged for another common R name.  I'm siccing FI on them tomorrow, because he has more of a capacity to be pushy than I do.

Whisky is 8.2 pounds! I know I AW'd it on FB but I'm so happy about it I kind of teared up when I saw the scale. He hasn't been over 7 pounds in like 3 months.

Oh, I should add...in the midst of my procrastination is also my huge anticipation/fear/anxiety related to waiting to find out if I have a new teaching job next year. 

I had 3 interviews last night. I knew from the outset that there was one job that I really really wanted. The other two...meh. Then I did the interviews - I ROCKED the one that I really wanted and then did, well, meh, for the other two - nothing brutal but nothing amazing either. 

Anyways...I have already heard from the two I wasn't keen on - both negatories - which is fine. I do know that my principal was called for all three and apparently I did indeed rock the one I thought I had and he said that I was on the top of their list...but I still haven't heard (they did say that they would let me know Thursday OR Friday....looking like Friday).

So of course...I am like, 100% sure I will hear about it after work tomorrow when I am at the conference where I will be presenting - my greatest fear is that I will hear right before I present and that it will be a no OR that they will call while I am presenting and that it will be too late to call them back at the end (I think my presentation is done around 9pm!)...Anyways...I really want this. I am fairly resilient in general, and my faith kind of cushions these things in 'there is a plan and everything happens for a reason' but I will be really disappointed if I don't get it.

Well you kicked ass at the interview, and that is all you can do. Stressing will only make your night no-fun, and won't change the outcome at all. I will say a prayer for you!

I'm going back and forth trying to decide whether or not to buy this cruise thing from groupon. I want to REALLLLLY bad, but I've never bought a discounted cruise before and I'm so worried something will go wrong. We want to leave on the 25th, but thats not enough time to get passports, but the website says you don't need one... I'd be pissed if we got there and couldn't board because we do need passports. And the cruise line isn't taking phone calls (after hours, I guess) so I can't call and be a million % sure.

Oh and? My vocalist (little cousin) for the ceremony just backed out on me. He was only supposed to sing like half of a song, but now says hes too nervous -WTF guy, you sing in front of people ALL.THE.TIME.

Just put the interview out of your mind for now and focus on the presentation. Stressing about it just makes it worse. And it sounds like your boss has rave reviews for you, so I'm sure you rocked the interview!

Thanks Jas. One of my friends said I have to let it be, it's out of my hands and I need to find peace in that. I do, until I start thinking about not getting it and then I get anxious again! Ha ha ha! It's one of those things where you are trying to will the phone to ring  - unless of course I won't like what I hear!

Also...I am half done my presentation. I am damn lucky that I can write quickly. It reminds me of being in school again. Except now I get paid to do it. It makes me want to go get my PhD. Except, not quite.

It just goes to Grand Bahama Island. Its a little cruise (2 night) but we would like a minimoon to hold us over until we go later this year.

So if you don't get it then what? Well, you're bummed for a while and you keep looking. It's not ideal, and it's okay to be upset, but I also know you won't let it keep you down for long.


I'm watching a "cops" show about female police. They are doing stings with illegal contractors. Contractors? Really? Is it just me, or does that seem like a lot of time and effort for a non-violent crime?

Numbers, you are going to rock the presentation and if you don't get the job, well, their loss. I know it's cliche to say but totally true. I would trade 99% of the teachers in my building to have someone like you and that's just based on our interactions online and the posts you've done regarding teaching and education.

My school continues to be insane, but I've convinced my boss to just roll with it and be entertained by the stupidity. I'm so ready for the end of the school year though. It's sad how ready I am considering I only have about 2 full weeks lefts and then 4 4-day weeks.

Numbers go practice your presentation. Seriously. There is NOTHING like getting up in front of a group of people and not knowing what you are talking and/stumbling through the presentation because you didn't practice. Get a mirror or your husband, make flash cards with some of your presentation words on them and PRACTICE. And for god's sake check your power point to ensure there are no mistakes in it.

This all comes from experience of royally screwing up 2 times this semester by not practicing.

All I can say about the presentation is to practice it a few times. Last time I had to do a presentation I didn't practice because I knew that I knew all the info in it. While that was true, I really did need the practice.

The highlight of my day was the UPS man's arrival. From one of FI's aunts and uncles we got all of the calphalon bakeware we registered for, star wars spatulas and and an immersion blender. Not only is that awesome, but it really touched me that they took the time to put that together (stuff from 2 different registries). The card was also really sweet.

Star Wars Spatulas...William Sonoma.

FI made us add a William Sonoma registry just so that we could register for those and the Star Wars cookie cutters. We got both sets of cookie cutters at the shower. They also have aprons but we didn't register for those.

K, I am done. It will need some revisions tomorrow but it's done. Or rather, I am done and hit a road block. It's all there, it just needs to be tailored a bit. But I am good. It's only 15 minutes.
