Couches

I know I'm a post whore today.

We're looking at some furniture pieces.  I think I like this couch.  We have a printed chair with sage, burgundy and rose tones and a chaise with coffee, sage and rose tones, so we want something solid.  What do you think of this couch?

    Very nice!

  • I'm watching this thread, because H and I are in desperate need of new couches for the house.
  • Oooh! That looks really comfy. I like it
    imageimage
  • oh, and to answer your OP- I like it! But I wouldn't buy a couch until I went to the store and actually sat (and stretched out) on it.  :)

That's the plan for tonight, Steph.

Also, does anyone know anything about microfiber?  I know it's supposed to be durable.

<div>VERY. At least in my experience at home. My mom has a set of microfiber couches, and loves them. She's got two cats, a dog, and two teenage boys. I think she's had them for 3-4 years and they look brand new.</div>
  • I'm in love with this couch (but in a chocolate or sable color) ---

  • Oh, I sent this to H, too. I love the look of the couch. Let me know how comfy they are :)
  • That does look really comfortable! But I agree sit and lay on it first.

But I do think it is very pretty. And mircro fiber I think you can scotch gard too for extra protection.

I'm looking for a nice chair with footstool myself. I've been looking forever.

  • I actually hate our microfiber couch. Well, I love it in that it's super comfy, but hate that it's so damn hard to clean. It's a light color, and it shows everything. If I take a shower and my hair drips on it, it gets water spots. You can't really wipe up a spot without getting water spots because it dries weird. The only way to clean it is to shampoo the entire thing, and if you don't suck out all the water it gets weird black spots.

At least, ours does. We haven't actually shampooed the entire thing because we're lazy, but it still has spots from when my dad did it (it was his couch, we got it for free). That being said, it is easier to clean up messes because it wipes off easier. Whisky barfed all over ours and all you can see is a light water stain if you know where to look.

It looks nice, but I personally need a couch with a higher arm rest so I can lean against the arm and stretch my legs out. The couch looks more like a sitting room sofa and not something to curl up on like I do when I watch TV. The arms and back on my couch are the same height to put into perspective what I'm talking about. Our couches and cocktail ottoman are microfiber, it wears nicely and beads away moisture if you ever have any spills which is fantastic!

I know. I've been meaning to look into them. It wasn't that big a deal at first, but with Whisky getting sick it's been worse. We just have blankets on it now and thankfully he decided to spend most of his time on the floor now.

I love the look of it! But I have to agree with both Sesh and Kcullen-- our microfiber couch used to get water stains all the time (we gave it away), and those arms would need to be higher for me.  But you'll know if it suits you once you go lay on it for a sec :)

Bed Bath and Beyond has some really nice ones. You have to watch for when they go on sale.

Right now we have a reclining sectional, so slipcovers aren't an option for us. I'd love to be able to switch up the colors every few months

  • Microfiber gives me the heebie jeebies when I touch it.  It makes my skin crawl.

But  I do like the look of the first one you posted.

    We're those weird leather people.

Couch and chair in the FR, and DH will be getting another for his office after the reno is done.

This is why I want my "OWN" chair and ottoman.

ETA: I like the sage best.

  • OP, I like that couch. It seems like it's one you could have for a long time and just change the pillows to match your decor as that changes. Not a bad price either.

That's the beauty of a sectional. You can mix and match the pieces to get the perfect fit. You can make it bigger or smaller, whaetver you need

Well I didnt mean it that way....so just take a moment and think about it.

Case in point, conversation with DH:

    Me: That thing is huge!
DH: I got something huge for you baby!
    Me: seriously?

Me: Aw, I always liked Peter (watching Fringe)
DH: I know you do baby.

    This continues on for years!

  • I agree with Sesh on the microfibre thing.  Our couch was mushroom coloured.  It showed everything, and the water spots were the most irritating.  It looks good after cleaning, but you have to do the whole thing.  Darker microfibre, even sage, would probably work better than my mushroom colour though.  Happy shopping!
