stressful day for me and my puppy (TMI)

My puppy's weenie fell out today. Somehow it slid out and got stuck. Not like the usual male dog getting excited thing, the entire weenie was out and got stuck! So of course I googled it to see what I could do and I tried putting him in a cold bath and trying to get it to go back in but it was STUCK. So I made an emergency visit to the vet...They spent 2hrs working on him and had to eventually knock him out completely because they were going to cut it so it could go back in. Luckily they didn't have to cut it but $630 bucks later my lil puppy has a stitch and is in pain...luckily he still has all his parts and it only required 1 stitch but he needs to be on antibiotics for 2weeks and go back to the vet tomorrow to take out the stitch. The vet said it was one of the worst cases she has seen...just my luck.

Long story short...my day has been shittty and expensive. Tell me something funny to cheer me up.

Re: stressful day for me and my puppy (TMI)

  • OMG that is so sad. Sorry :(

The thread below is pretty funny.

  • Awww your poor puppy.  Usually that happens due to a lack of lubrication.  Did they give you an idea of what caused the situation.
  • Oh no!  That's sad, but at least he's going to be okay!
  • To make you laugh.  My original response discussed dog's penises and such and somehow it posted on a club board.  I'm sure that surprised the hell out of some people.
  • Oh poor puppy! I'm glad you are a responsible owner, even though the vet bills suck.

  • Wow....I never heard of that. Poor puppy!

Better your puppy than your FI?

  • awww poor dog.  Did they know what caused it?

Whenever our puppy gets really aggressive, his always starts to stick out. It pisses off FI so much; it's hilarious. He's always like 'PUT THAT AWAY! If I don't get to whip mine out, you can't either." lol

I creeps me out when my dogs penis comes out. Blegh.
  • Hahaha thanks. Yes when i picked him up from the vet today (i had to leave him there for a while) he was just waking up from the anesthesia and when i went to put him in the car he peed on himself. I burst out crying lol...he is my baby. His legs were shaking and I felt so bad for him it hurt my heart.

The vet couldn't figure out why this happened. I was at work and when my mom came home she noticed it and some time passed and it wouldn't go back in so i came home and it was horrible! He is a lazy dog and dose not even hump anything so we have no idea how it happened which sucks but if it happens again hopefully it wont happen this bad again...my poor tiny. He is sleeping it off right now.

Im thankful he did not have to stay overnight because that would be another 2-300 bucks!

  • Oh poor baby :( All of my animals are female for this reason. Male puppies make me uncomfortable. Male rodents are even worse.

     Laser kitty goes pew pew?
  • I know katie...I have only had one male dog before Tiny. Its odd because i have never even seen a little "red rocket" from him before so it blew my mind when i saw the whole penis sticking out!

    Ugh my poor baby.

Are rodents worse? I have never had any so I wouldn't know

  • Aww, Jelique. I'm so sorry for your dog, but I have to tell you that I was crying while reading this thread outloud to FI.

There are tons of funny threads tonight. Check Petra's about being 5.

  • They're balls are usually the size of their head. I actually had one customer call corporate and complain that all of the animals in my store had rectal tumors and how dare we not get them treated. I had to call him back and explain that they were not rectal tumors, only genitalia. That was a fun conversation.Undecided

    I'll make you laugh.

You should have called cew. She would have threatened to chop his little penis off and he would have sucked it right back in!

More seriously, I'm glad you're such a good puppy parent and got him right to the vet. That's a painful situation, and so traumatic!

  • I once was grooming a stallion and he got excited. I was 16 and absolutely mortified. My boss said "Oh good, go grab X mare (who was in heat) and we'll breed her while he's ready". Then I was mortified AND traumatized.
  • Thanks guys you are making me feel better already except for the rodent balls part lol.

  • OMG - that happened to my little guy once (it came all the way out) but it went back after eight hours.  It happened when DH and I had been dating for 4 months and it was so awkward to call his dad who is a vet to talk about my dog's weenie.  I'm glad that your little one is ok.

  • OMG 8hrs!!! My vet said I waited too long by waiting 3hrs because the longer it is out the more swollen it gets and the greater risk of infection. I cant imagine it after 8hrs! im glad he was ok though.

  • I've never heard of that and I grew up around a LOT of dogs, my dad was a breeder (national breeder of the year for his breed one year).  YIKES!

DD took horseback riding classes as a college class, the horse she was assigned to did that a lot and just grossed her out to no end.
