AW- Having fun with my macro lens and my ring (PIP)

So my ring is my favorite macro subject lately. I can't help myself but i'm sure that most of the people ImyRL don't really care to see a bunch of pics of my ring. Heck you guys might not want to either, but here it goes anyway...just for fun and because i think DF did such a great job choosing such a beautiful ring for me!






I really like this one but i didn't notice how dirty my ring was until i downloaded the pictures. ick.

And i was having so much fun with my ring, i offered to take some of my friend's who just got engaged two weeks ago. Here's her's...

Question. What is the name of the blue rock thing your ring is on? My mom loves them and I want to get her another one for Christmas, but people at the stores don't seem to know what "you know, shiny polished rock things they mine from mountains and stuff" are.

Oh, and great pictures. The ring is NMS but I love the way it looks against the blue.

Really good pics! I can't get a decent pic of my e-ring to save my life. The picture of it in my bio is pretty bad.

Those are lovely.

It's the macro setting that makes the good ring pics.  If you've got a point-and-shoot digital see if there's a symbol that looks like a close up of a flower.  That's likely the macro setting.

Do it!! lol It's one of my favorite lenses. You can get such a shallow depth of field with it! And I use it here and there for portraits also and it's not too shabby. And FWIW I bought the 60mm (might have been 50mm? can't remember now) macro first because it was cheaper and it doesn't compare to this one. I ended up selling it.

OMG I can't believe I never knew about this setting!!!! I wish I would have known about this when I had my dinky little Canon point-and-shoot a few years ago in the Galápagos Islands!!!!!!!!!!!

Your ring is gorgeous, but I'm more jeaous of your camera, haha! The macro feature on mine still doesn't let me get really clear photos of my ring. :P But your pics turned out fantastic. The 2nd one is my fave.
