Re: History

  • I would also liked to have seen The White City. And been a detective in Scotland Yard during the time of Jack the Ripper.

But I like Lucky's answer as well, and I would also add the Birth and maybe been present for the Sermon on the Mount.

For a totally selfish one, I would have loved to have been at the 1989 National Jamboree and actually MET Steven Spielberg instead of just having a Get Well card signed by him and Lee Greenwood.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

Missy that is so intense!  I think that would be sweet too - I've always been really intrigued by crime and killers and what makes it all go down.

  • I would love to go to 5th or 6th century Britain to find out if King Arthur really lived and, if so, if he was really a king or more of a warlord like many historians believe.

I would also like to see the world of Ancient Rome. Not just Rome itself, but the rest of the territories that Rome affected.

  • Two of my career ambitions once upon a time were to be an FBI profiler and a medical examiner/forensic scientist.

But I didn't have the attention span for either I decided, and then when I heard one coroner describe one crime scene as smelling like a chicken farm, that was nipped in the bud.

After thinking for a while about my own question, I decided on this as well.  I have a lot of questions, and this would answer a lot of them.

Kinda, lol.  Mostly the beginning.  I live near Lexington (shot heard round the world) and my house lies on the battle path that the British took to get to Lexington.  Im proud to be from this area and love that the historic houses and places have been maintained so well over the years.

The tavern where Paul Revere was and where the Minutemen met is still here and 5 min from my house :)  They do a re-enactment once a year in the field directly across the street from my house.

I dont know why I have a love for that part of history.  Maybe if I didnt live here, it would not fascinate me so much.

I also went to school in Salem and love the witch museums.  There are alot of literary greats that are from this area and I go to the Hawthorne House (House of Seven Gables) and Louisa May Alcotts Orchard House once a year.

I'm fascinated by the Rev War too, Blue!

  • Blue, my FI's parents live in Acton, so like 7 miles from Concord. Two years ago we were there for memorial day and saw a concert right near where the British troops marched through. FI used to go to Orchard House and Walden Pon on school trips. I'm extremely jealous. The Concord book store's "local authors" section is ridiculous.

  • Yeah this area is flooded with history of our independence.  Its really a great place to live if you are into that stuff.

I know Acton well.  Im on the other side of Concord, heading towards Boston.

On a sad note, did you all hear that Cinderella died?  Sad :(
