Anyone else technology challenged?

So I just got the new Droid that came out today.  I was really excited till I got home and realized I have no idea how to use it, lol.

This is going to be a few hours of figuring it out.

Anyone else feel like an old lady when it comes to this stuff?  My first cell phone looked like Zach Morris's.

  • I'm really bad. My current phone looks a little Zack Morris-ish.

  • Me. I have three typewriters at home, and my husband is a computer tech.
I have a facebook, but don't really know how to use it. I've never "twitter-ed" and I only just started looking at you-tube.

  • Yeah, I was lost for weeks on some of the most simple things with my Droid.  I felt ridiculously old, when I had to have my baby sister tell me how to do 1/2 of it.
  • You'll love the droid, feel free to ask me questions about it, I'll try to help.  It's like an iphone that costs less and doesn't have shitty reception. LOL

  • I do pda and phone support at a library, but there are definitely some quirks to start using these things.

  • Yeah I refuse to get a nice cell phone. Well, more like I am banned from it because of the number of times I have lost mine, dropped it in the toilet, ran over it with a car. But also, I am just an idiot about figuring out how to work them. I am already an old geezer in that respect.

  • When the new IPhone 4 software came out, there were all these new functionalties that were supposed to be so awesome. I had to google them for 2 hours to figure out how to actually use them. I guess they were intuitive for some people.

  • I haven't bit the bullet and bought a Droid because it looks complicated.  FI has one, loves it, but I have the hardest time figuring it out it seems.  I really wish Verizon would get an iphone so I could just stick with what I know and call it good.
  • Well Verizon doesnt give you manuals anymore (going green).  But you can go online to figure it out.  They also give free classes at the store with some specialist.

I dont know why, but I found that funny.  The phones are so intricate that they need to have classes?

  • I love technology, though I don't keep up with all the latest releases and whatnot. I really want a WeTab, which is like the iPad, only it doesn't come from the devil company that is Apple. It was going to be called WePad, but apparently Apple got all pissy about having too similar of a name.

  • When I got a new cell phone about seven or eight months ago (I got the LG Banter) the sales guy was really pushing me to get a Blackberry, or a touch screen phone.  He was singing all the praises of ZOMG THEY'RE SO COOL and you can do SO MANY THINGS.

But, I like buttons.  And if I am kinda stuck in the dinosaur age of thinking that says if I MUST go online, I'll find a computer.  No one needs access to the internet on their phone like that unless your job demands it, I don't think.

Damn kids and their twitters.  Or whatever they are.

  • Yeah, I decided to actually go and try it out before buying it. It's got great features, but isn't all that user-friendly. I mean, the basics are easy, but buttons you'd expect to be in certain places aren't. Kind of disappointing since H loves his Droid so much. So I went for the Incredible instead.

I'm pretty technologically gifted actually. I understand computers and phones and stuff pretty intuitively. That doesn't mean I'm monetarily gifted and can keep up with all the hot new phones though ;)

    I'm a tech junkie.

That said, my LG enV is currently bleeding.  I don't know how else to describe it!  First, these thin black lines (cuts?) appeared on the touch screen.  In the last two days, they have oozed into full-blown splotches.  It's kind of creepy.

  • My FFIL jsut got an iphone 4, he had never even sent a text message before, the first one was (split into three seperate texts) "me" "text" "you", i replied and said "i dont even want to know how long it took you to send that" LOL.

I'm pretty pathetic when it comes to cell phones. Whenever I get a new one, I always try to find the most basic phone there is. Basically, anything more than talking and texting is "too complicated" for me.

For the most part, I love little gadgets and stuff, but for some reason I have this phobia of my cell phone being anything more than a phone, hahaha.

  • I love new technology, but yes, my phone is beyond me.  I've had it for about 3 months and I still don't know how to use all the features and I have trouble figuring out some of the stuff I want to do.  :SIGH: I am getting old.
