You guys, I just had a gigantic lightbulb moment.

I've been having trouble with my scalp for awhile.  Itching, flaking, burning, scabbing.  Nothing has worked.  MY HAIR PRODUCTS HAVE WHEAT IN THEM.  If I AM gluten intolerant/allergic like I suspect, I could be having a freaking allergic reaction on scalp from them.  ALL THIS TIME.  Oh my god.

Lots of the symptoms (terrible bloating and other digestive issues that I will spare you discussion of, moodiness, itchiness, headaches, lack of energy, etc).  Then I cut gluten out as much as practical for someone who didn't know for sure, and after two days I felt a gagillion times better, then I accidentally ate a bunch of gluten and felt like garbage, and so now I'm biding my time until my doctor's appointment, avoiding gluten as much as possible until probably about a week before the appointment so I can have some in my system to be able to test properly.

Hydrolyzed wheat protein usually.  I think it's more of a binder than anything.  I hadn't even considered the possibility until I read about it just now in a blog I'm reading.

I think I might try this with my H. He has a lot of food allergies anyways (fruits, peanuts, etc.) and he has the itchiest head ever. Weird as it is, his favorite thing is a head scratch/rub from me. We've tried all types of different shampoos (selsun blue?) and stuff with no luck.

Wow, what a load of BS our society has become. I think its frightening how many intolerances everyone has now. I know a ton of people in real life who have cut out dairy or gluten or both because of intolerances. The crap they put into things we use to make it cheaper or "work better" is such nonsense.

J&K- I think I'm going to try not eating gluten for a while and see how I feel. I've been having a lot of those symptoms after eating it also.

I always had a terrible scalp, really itchy and flaky andnothing worked. I got the clinical strength head and shoulders last year and it honest to god changed my life. I shudder to think of what will happen if they ever discontinue it.

I always felt the same way, wearing black was agony. I just looked at the ingredients and there "appears" to be no gluten (lots of methy ingredients though hah). I never found that regular head and shoulders did much for my scalp, but the clinical strength worked wonders.
