Snarky Brides

Ahh in a panic

So, I’m officially 12 days from my wedding day and I’m up on the scale and up in inches. : s  I've worked my butt off and was down a few weeks ago, but then starting out working out harder and the scale went up.  I was kind of ok with that, because i know that muscle weighs more than fat.  I'm up in inches this morning and i know l should start my period any day.  So I’m sure that has something to do with it, but im freaking.  My final dress fitting is tonight and i don't even want to go!  I eat super healthy and try to drink as much water as possible.  The last couple weekend we've had the 4th of July and my bachelorette party, so there has been more alcohol in my diet than normal.  I need some advice about what to do...  Or how to loose some weight in these last 12 days!  Help..Please!

  • I can't imagine you've gained so much weight that your dress won't fit in such a short amount of time.

Your body fluctuates during the month.  I'm sure you're just freaking out because its close to the wedding.

Even if you have gained that much in 12 days, I doubt you could lose a lot of weight to make a difference.  That's why there's a final fitting.  Your dress will be adjusted if necessary.

  • Just stop eating solid foods and go on a liquid (meaning: water!) diet.

...Okay, obviously not.  But seriously!  Just relax.  You know that your body changes here and there especially when your monthtly visitor is in town.  Just eat healthy, keep exercising, and try not to fret about it.

  • It's probably just bloating.  Unless you have a crazy awful 2 week long period, I'm sure you'll be down in inches for your wedding.  If the dress is a little snug tonight, ask if you can come back for your final fitting after you de-bloat.
  • Like everyone else said, it's probably just pre-period bloat.  Try taking some Midol or Pamprin which can help with the bloating, and limit your salt and carbonated beverage intake.

  • Also, although it seems counter productive, drink lots of water!

  • I had my final dress fitting on Friday.  It was the most awful day for a dress fitting!  I was on day 2 of my period, I was sick, still am, my mom and daughter were annoying the crap out of me.  I was so bloated.  I was convinced I looked like a cow!

But the dress fit and my mom learned how to do the bustle, so, everything was fine.

  • Calm down, all will be well.

Assuming your dress was not uber tight to begin with you should be fine. Fabric has a little give and as long as you drink plenty of water, eat fruits and veggies and watch yourself you will be fine.
  • Ok, first thing's first.... Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat. It has more mass and takes up more space but does not weigh more. 1 lb is always 1lb no matter the substance.

You should be fine in your dress even if you are up a bit. A good seamstress leaves that fluctuation room so that if you are having a bloaty day there is room.

    Just relax and enjoy yourself.

  • Um, I'm pretty sure fat takes up more space per lb than muscle.
  • This post is 3 weeks old and dead as a doornail.  Why would you post in it, Marina? Why?
