Dinner and a question?

Anyone still around?

What's for dinner, and how do you feel about vaccinations?

Re: Dinner and a question?

  • Dinner tonight is ground beef and cheese casserole, steamed veggies and garlic bread.

I think vaccinations are extremely necessary. However, I dont have kids and therefore havent done all my research.

  • What a werid combo. I would not like getting a vac during dinner :P
    image
  • Not sure, probably something involving pasta.   And I dislike needles.  So I avoid shots unless absolutely necessary.  It's possible I'd avoid traveling to certain international destinations in order to avoid the required vaccinations.

  • Not sure what dinner is.  I want to go to Red Lobster to use a gift card we have, but DH is still sleeping, so that may be out.  In that case, delivery pizza?

I haven't done research on vaccinations, so I have a very uneducated opinion.  I generally think they're a good thing, though.

Also, J, Fische was trying to find you yesterday, she's in MSP for the weekend, doing a gtg on Sunday me thinks, for the game.
  • Hahaha to Slubkin!

We are having big lima beans, turkey sausage, brown rice  and cornbread
    image
  • Vaccinations mean I'm a champion at not getting polio!

And I'm not sure about dinner. I'm here by myself, and I have some chicken breast that I could cut up and stir fry with some tikka masala sauce, but I could also just heat up a frozen chicken kiev and some homemade steak fries, and I am leaning toward the latter.

  • I have pork chops in the freezer I need to cook. I just don't know how. Anyone have suggestions?

Vaccinations...I really haven't researched this, but as I stand right now, I'm not against them. I used to work with a girl whose sister was insanely anti-vac. Like, co-worker got a flu shot and her sister flipped her shiit and went into this crying, screaming fit claiming CW didn't love her and respect her. Therefore CW was anti-vac. Girl was cray-zay!

  • Chicken tacos for dinner.

I think vaccinations are very important. That being said I hate needles so I don't get flu shots, but I make sure to stay up to date on the others. I made DS get a flu shot when he got all his 2 year vacs, poor guy. He had 4 shots that day.

  • We're having chicken breast with mushrooms and balsamic sauce, with brown rice and steamed broccoli.

And I think vaccines are awesome and people should get vaccinated and get their kids vaccinated and I don't get people who jump all over misconceptions to preach against vaccines.

And Mocha, I finally saw it (don't know how I missed it yesterday) and found her on E :)  Thanks!  Sadly I'm working this weekend.  Lame.

dinner: Fry bread pepperoni and mushroom pizzas

I'm anti-vaccinations but don't argue state guidelines for children. Even as a parent, I don't feel it is my right to withhold a vaccination simply based on my own beliefs.  i don't believe most vaccinations to be directly harmful.   i choose not to further vaccinate myself (provided I am not then a risk to others)

I am speaking of all vaccinations (flu included) not just the basic child ones like MMR and tetanus

Just to clarify- I personally dislike unnecessary vaccines, but I do believe they provide a medical benefit and try not to delay them too much longer than necessary.  I think I'm due for a tetanus shot and I'm avoiding it because I recall quite clearly how horrible it was when I was 15.  And I haven't had the flu since about the same age, so I don't really feel the need to volunteer for flu shots.  But other than that, I think I'm up to date.

See, this is something I can get on board with.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for the suggestions. Mocha, that's my problem, if I'm not frying them, I cook the crap out of them and they are dry. J&K, I think I will try your suggestion. Sounds yummy. I just don't have any white wine. I'm sure I can manage without.

Oh man, I was overdue on my tetanus until I had to go in for getting bitten at work and I had to get it and holy hell, yes, that one is awful.  I remember getting it and then going to gymnastics practice when I was 11 and being miserable which is why I put it off.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Dinner and a question? : Why?  Please share :) I promise I won't yell at you. Sarah, I normally don't really care about the flu shot because I rarely get sick, but I didn't get it the last two years and I was miserably, miserably sick.  Plus, I work with  kids.

I can dig that, and if I got the flu, I would probably start getting a flu shot. But I don't believe I've ever had it (if I did it was so mild I didn't notice) so I don't really know what I'm vaccinating myself again. Plus I tend not to do stuff if the TV news people tell me I should do it.

Yeah, you don't NEED the white wine.  It just adds a yummy kick to the gravy.  If you have cooking sherry that would work, or even a little red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or balsamic vinegar would be really good too.

And tonight we are having spicy shrimp noodle soup.

  • I'm here.  : )

I'm not sure what dinner will be. I have to wait for FI to get home and see if he has any ideas. Fridays are usually either take-out or just eating random things from the fridge. I also think we're going to watch Toy Story 3 which I am excited about.

Vaccinations...I am not an expert on the topic. I am not against the normal vaccinations that you get as a baby and child. The ones we always needed for school, booster shots, tetanus etc.

The flu shot, take it or leave it. I've never gotten one and I probably won't until I get older when the flu can become lethal.

  • Oh, Ang, ok.  I was going to say, it was surprising to me that you were anti-vac!

    You fooled me :)

  • There is a girl in my class who is PG and antivac, I side eye her big time.

  • See, my CW had to go through all kinds of hoops and loops to get her daughter enrolled into school because her daughter had not had shots since she was born. She may have had her 6 mo shots? I think CW ended up lying to the school and saying daughter hadn't had them for religious reasons.

  • We are having leftovers, 4-cheese macaroni with ham. It's delicious.

I'm for vaccinations, but I admit I don't know much about ones for kids other than that I had them done. I had to get vaccinated to go to Ecuador, and I'd much rather get a shot than malaria or yellow fever.
  • Hmm... haven't decided dinner yet but probably won't be hungry at the rate I am scarfing down Hershey Kisses.  But now I want garlic bread after reading that someone else was making it.

As for vacs, I am undecided on the whether or not I would get my hypothetical children vaccinated because I'm unsure of how some of them effect their development.  However, I do believe some are very necessary even though they suck.  I had to have 8 for when I traveled to Southern Africa but it kept me from contracting a lot of nasty stuff so I'm happy with that.

  • Tht's just scary. There is a reason why most of these diseases are rare of unheard of now!

  • I'm having pizza.

I'm for vaccines for major things like Hep B and all that. I don't get flu shots. Nor do I take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. I just think flu shots are pointless with how fast it adapts, and antibiotics are incredibly overprescribed. When the massive super-bug wipes us all out, you'll wish you had listened!

I have no idea. I tried to not get too deep into it with her because I just don't understand not vaccinating your child. Like I said, I don't know much about it, but I had them and I am fine, along with alot of you. Once you can make your own decision, go for it. But I think she shoud have had her children vaccinated.

Yes this! It's so important. I think I've taken antibiotics less times than I have fingers throughout my whole life.

Hell, I don't even take OTC pain meds unless I absolutely can't deal.
