  • It sucks it was a family ring the most. To me, anyway. My H proposed on the dock, so we were terrified one of us would drop it and it would end up in the river.
  • My stone is an heirloom.  DH knew that he'd be dead if something stupid happened to it.

  • Fi proposed to be at the edge of the Griffith Observatory and now every time we go back or hike the trails I can't help but think what if we would have dropped it.
  • Next time Scott is sad about his proposal I'm showing him that story!

I thought I had lost the hankerchief that the "Marriedlastname" women have had for their wedding day all the way back to the early 1800's after our wedding. I couldn't find it anywhere in my suitcase, dress bag, etc. About 6 months later (with guilt eating away at me every day) I found it in Scott's glovebox.
  • That makes me sick to my stomach--especially that it was a family ring.  My diamonds are heirloom, and I would be heartbroken if something happened.

  • Scott said he was going to do the classic proposal of putting the ring in a glass of wine or desert or something, then he realized I would probably swallow it by accident.
    Smart man I have...
  • Thank gosh mom got it insured.

  • Katie, didn't that happen a while ago?  I think the story I read was that the guy put it in a Frosty, and the girl scarfed it down.  Not sure how she didn't notice that, though.
  • I'm sure it's happened a lot of times, it just seems like an accident waiting to happen. Yeah, I'd imagine you would feel a ring going down though. Mine would have hurt like a bia with the square cut.
  • J carried mine around the Magic Kingdom all freaking day in his pocket - no box, nothing. At least his shorts had velcro.

And proposed to me in the hotel instead. Goober.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew

My FI carried it around though dinner and a show and then the Las Vegas strip (no box or anything either) - in his pocket - with no velcro.  And then proposed in front of the Bellagio fountains.  We were right next to the water, so instead of me saying "yes" I said "be careful - don't drop it!!!"
  • ugh what a moron. I was just down in that area in june. Only a world class idiot would attempt that! There is no way that proposal was going to go well when he placed that ring there.

  • There was a story similar where the guy was planning to propose in a hot air balloon and dropped it over the side.  They had a huge search party and ended up finding it!  Crazy.  Wow...just imagine if someone stumbles across that ring in the rocks though (not knowing the story behind it)
    Anniversary
  • My FI rolled up his shirt and tucked it into the shirt.  He walked around with it like that all day, even on the damn NYC subway.  Afterwards, I asked him if he was scared he'd drop it.  He said whenever I touched him, he had to push me away in case I accidentally touched it. I always think about the ring falling in between the subway tracks and a rat eating it.  It's happened!
