Dog hiccups?

Ok I have a dog question for once.

Have you ever seen a dog hiccup before? Katie is making really weird motions that look like hiccups but she's never done it before and it's kind of freaking me out.

Re: Dog hiccups?

  • My dog hiccups often...and it's cute.

  • I don't know about dogs, but my cat hiccups.  The vet said it was normal.
    She also snores.

  • Bax hiccups all the time.
  • Ok that makes me feel better then :) She's never done it before and I looked over and just saw her ab area jerking and was like "wtf is wrong with my dog!"
  • Our dog gets the hiccups probably once a week. I think she gets them from eating too fast, maybe?
  • Yup. Ours did it when he was a puppy. Google told me it's more like muscle spasms from growing so quickly.

But they can get hiccups too, the vet said, when they get excited, etc.
  • Clover gets hiccups all the time. She's lucky - they go awat so quickly. Mine last forever.

  • My pup gets hiccups fairly frequently too. My other dogs never did. I think it's adorable.

Ditto on the reverse sneeze thing. My little 2 lb chihuahua does it maybe once every 6 months or so, and he's 10 this year, so I freak out thinking he's choking every time.
  • Max is a hiccuping fool. I'm guessing it's because he inhales his food, plus I need to raise it.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Is it bad that I would probably laugh if I heard the cats hiccup? I also hope to hear them fart someday.

Aw, come on. Cat farts have got to rank up there among the most hilarious sounds ever created.

<div>Oh, definitely. But smell? not so much. ;)</div><div>
</div><div>Although... my dog burped at me this morning, and it was hilarious.  He was pissed, because it came out when he was trying to bark at me. He just at us like "WTF was that?!"</div>
  • Not only does my dog hiccup all of the time, but she also farts, often audibly. There really isn't anything about it that makes it funnier than human farts.
