Really shower guests?

So the rsvp for my shower was today and my sister just told me that there are still 50 people who have not responded, and if they dont in the next day or so she needs all their numbers to call.

Wtf?  I always respond on time.

How many of you had a similar problem?  Did you have the shower host call?

My sister needs a count by next week for the hall.

I didn't have a shower, so I saved myself that headache. But damn, 50 people? That's like half our guest list. I can't think of 50 women I'd want to have a shower with.

That's a huge shower.  You're gonna get a lootttttttttta gifts.

If I were hosting the shower - I'd be calling.  I mean some people don't respond because they're truly busy and forget - others are just rude or forgetful.

I had about 10 people RSVP and then had like 30 show up to my shower. How many people are invited to your wedding Blue? Wait 'til you get to that big load of not RSVPing, what a pain, it's not like you're paying money for a party or anything

There were 110 invited.  It seems like alot but I have over 250 invited to the wedding.

Plus, in my cirlce if you do not invite just about all the women on the wedding list they get really offended.  I know its not that way everywhere, but for us and our friends/family thats how it goes.  The only women that didnt get invited were GF's of guests who we have never met.  Every shower I have ever been invited to has been that way.

Believe me when i tell you I would rather have had just a small shower at my moms house, but thats just the way it goes, lol.

Yeah, don't feel bad, I had about 300 invited and if they were all local I bet I would've had that many at my shower, luckily for me majority were OOT, so it was somewhat small. 

It's still weird to open lingerie in front of any amount of people.

Honestly, non-RSVPers make me want to hunt them down, drive past their homes at night, and leave dog shiit on their porches.  I know I get irrationally and disproportionately angry about this issue, but I don't understand (barring an illness or death) what could prevent your from checking a box or making a call. 

I would definitely (if I were hosting) be calling.  I may or may not also inject a little venom into my voice. 

ETA: Usually I would wait abotu a week, but since your sis needs the numbers, if I were her, I'd call asap.

See in my circle you usually have your regular shower and then a friend or MIL will throw you a small lingerie shower with just close girlfriends and cousins.  That shower is usually a surprise.

Again, just my circle, not necessarily my region or anything.

Definitely get your sister to call. We had a similar experience with some of the women invited to my TX shower... and they were all MIL's friends cough cough...

Yeah, now that I think of it, I had a few aunts ask my mom about my lingerie party, and I told her I just wanted to do it all in one swoop. All my lingerie came from older aunts now that I think about it.. weird.

I know how you feel only about 60% of my guest list responded to the actual wedding, so I will have some phone calls to make!  I would say if she needs the numbers by a certain date then have her call around in a nice way "we would love to see you there but if I don't hear from you we will assume you won't be able to make it"  I really don't get people when it comes to RSVP ing.... simple concept to me!
