Snarky Brides

Who likes the Renaissance Faire?

This girl!  And since a few others have said the same, may I AW some pics from today?

Here we are, having fun.  We both got sunburned today.

You can't really see him too well, but this acrobat is up on that ladder.  The reason you can't see him is he strapped fireworks to his chest and set them off.  It was insane.

Dexter Trippe, the acrobat.  See him if you can.

I like root beer floats :P

Re: Who likes the Renaissance Faire?

  • Awesome! I'm jealous! Our ren fair isn't until february :(

  • Oh man, I haven't had a root beer float in years, I'm totally walking to the store when H gets home.

  • Wait which one did you go too?  I'm going to the one in PA in like 2 weeks.
  • I love Renfairs, but don't have any good pictures. My old community theatre directors actually are actors in the Md Renfair :) It's always fun to go see them in character. Last year was interesting too because we were watching the jousting, and I was commenting that it was very uneventful, and that the jousters were older than they usually are. All of them looked to be in their mid-50's or so, as compared to the normal 30's. At one point one of knights went down hard and every actor just kind of stopped and held their breath. He got up really slowly and limped towards the back. I commented on it to one of the vendors near the area. She went white, then ran off to the field while the other vendor goes "That's her dad, and that wasn't supposed to happen."
  • Nate-I figured that was the one you went to.  I live about 15 min from there.  I have only been one time but FI has gone a bunch because his cousin used to be in it.  They are really fun.

  • I adore them! We went to one last year, and had fun. Sadly, it was too hard to see the jousting, and they had birds of prey but switched their performance location at the last minute. We pretty muched spent most of the time watching the blacksmith.
FI is a dork, and wanted to get me a "pony ride" on one of the jousting horses...I told him not unless I get to gallop! They said no...jerks.

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun! And now I want a root beer float..I wonder if they are good with fudge swirled vanilla ice cream...
  • FI and I love ren fairs! We've been to the one in Bristol on the IL/WI line three years running - usually FI is a pirate and I am a dryad.

Here we are from last year:

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • Me! Pick me!

Heh... I've been going to the Carolina Renaissance Festival for... oh, at least 7 years now. We're going opening weekend this year, and I made a musketeer costume for my fiancé to match his hat he got at Pterodactyl Leather. I generally go as a pirate, since my leather hat's a tricorner. It's our only chance to have a sip of mead (yum) and it's always sooo much fun.

  • I LOVE Ren Fest! I'm actually going tomorrow. I'm getting my flower girls fairy wings for the wedding since we are getting married in a theatre and are doing a slight "Midsummers Night Dream" theme.

Here's one my FI took of me a couple years ago...

Funny story, right after he took this picture, he stopped a run away stroller...

  • Yay!  Sorry for disappearing--we were hungry!

I'm glad so many people love going.  I've been going since high school, but FI had never been to one before moving out here.  I had to drag him to his first one, but now he loves it.  He had a giant turkey leg today :).

Jaime, I figured you were somewhere in that area.  I want to check out other ones, also, to see how they're similar/different.  We're planning on going to Forest of Fear the weekend it opens--have you been?
  • My sister went to forrest of fears and loved it.  I have never been.

  • I grew up in West Milford, so I've always heard about it and how scary it is, but I've never been, either.
  • TURKEY LEGS!!!!

I can't wait till the Ren Fest comes here, I love eating pretty much all day and not feeling bad about it.

  • I worked at the NY Ren Faire for five years and now I just go every year :)  Love that I still know people- I get some awesome discounts :)  Think I'm a 15 year vet at this point. I've also gone to the Sterling NY Ren Festival and the Hudson Valley Mayfair :) I also make garb for me, my FI, and my friends. Love it :)
