Snarky Brides

My child is a monkey???

So this is probably going to be a post and run, but there is a show on NatGeo right now about people who own wild animals.  This one is about monkeys.

These people have an adult monkeys.  Their teeth have been removed.  They wear diapers, etc.  They say people get rid of them after they hit puberty and start biting.  Some of these people have children as well.

Um yeah.  Monkeys bite idiot.  How is this legal????  They say its only illegal in 20 states.

They call them Monkids.  These people have serious issues.....

One quote "I really dont think there is much of a difference between human infants and monkey infants".  Jesus lady, you need help.

Re: My child is a monkey???

  • Some little kid just goes "Oh is that your pet?" and the lady goes "Pet?  Um NO, this is my life companion."

Oh and "He needs to get used to diapers, his butt needs to callous".

These monkeys also live for 40 years.

  • Jeez... poor diapered monkeys :( I don't see how people think this is a good idea.
Pet monkey is not the same as a pet cat people.
  • I have also seen a special about a scientist that raised their own baby with a monkey they were studying, They took the kid away when the kid would only screech like a monkey and wouldn't learn English... weeeeird.

At some point they have to be paying way more attention to the monkey than their own kids. Could you imagine that sibling rivalry? You would never win. "I have to go change Bubbles for the 1,706,800th time..."

  • I like watching programs on monkeys in the wild.  They facinate me in their natural enviornment.  But as a pet?  No thanks.  The first time that dirty bastard flung shiit at me would be the last.

  • I think they are cute...from the other side of a tv screen.

I used to tell people at the pet store that they were buying life companions when they were interested in tortoises or larger birds. Hey people, you're looking at an animal that is going to live 25-75 years, think in the long run. I loved telling parents that they might want to adjust their will for who will be the tortoise's caretaker, because his natural lifespan would certainly be longer than the person buying him.
