Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

I need furniture recommendations....

...because I'm crazy.  Last night, Bill's parents finally decided what to do about Thanksgiving.  They're coming here!  Yay!  I really am happy about it but we need a dining room table and some chairs.  We're going to have about 12 people here so we'd like to find something big enough.  I know that I can get a shorter table and then use my mom's folding table and chairs.  We could also seat some people at the kitchen table.  However, someone's feelings will definitely get hurt so, for right now, I really want to find a longer table.  Places we're considering:  Ashley's, Stacy's, Weir's, Haverty's, Rooms to Go and Rooomstore.  Does anyone else have any recommendations/suggestions that I might have missed?  I would prefer to avoid places that have a round ma with a square deal.  :-)  This is some of our first "grown up" furniture (as Bill calls it).  We don't want something that will fall apart in two years.

Reviews of Rooms to Go tend to be negative, but we just got our new living room furniture there and love it! They were really easy to work with.  We went to the one in Grapevine by the mall.

If you're willing to do some assembly, JCPenney.com often has awesome sales on furniture.  It's real wood, really good quality, but is cheaper because you have to put in a little labor yourself.  It's actually often the same brands you find at Rooms to Go/Roomstore. We got our dining set plus 6 chairs for a little over $600 (and about $200 was shipping).  I love them, so much better than our crappy Target breakfast set.

Macy's and Dillards have nice furniture and they (especially Macy's) have great sales! I've had good experience with my furniture from Ashley's though... however I did find some of the same furniture later at Big Lots for much cheaper about a year later.   You might look there as it seems some of the furniture dealers may sell overstock to them.

everything i own is from ashley's. I love that store, and I can assure you it's not going to fall apart in this lifetime. I have a 4 y/o nephew who has put that to the test :) I'm not sure what area you are from but there is an ashley's store off bryant irving in fort worth. There is a guy named Victor and a guy named Sal. I have done all of my furniture purchases through them. They are amazing.

Ashley’s and RoomsToGo both have clearance centers in Arlington that you might check out to see if there is anything nice for a good deal.  I have purchased quite a few pieces of furniture from the RoomsToGo outlet and they were all very nice with zero damage.  The key to these stores is you just have to look and see what they have.

Julie - Check out outlets. There are so many off Midway/635 area. I'm all about outlets because furniture is just so expensive. There is the Stacys outlet in Grapevine/Flower Mound too. Good Luck! I just put my "big girl" china cabinet together this morning with all my wedding stuff and things that were left to me.

Ashley's in Frisco SUCK! lol They messed up my furniture order soo many times! I loved Haverty's and Rooms to go, despite the negative feedback I have heard about them. Good Luck! I love furniture shopping! or any kind of shopping for that matter :)

I second The Dump. Or Haverty's, Ethan Allen, Weir's, or Bassett Furniture. Might be more expensive but IMO, they will last forever.

I was at the Great Indoors a few weeks ago and was suprised they now have some furniture. I did see some tables and they were decently priced. I also would scratch off Roomstore and Rooms to go if you dont want it to fall apart. I have had one bad bad experience with Rooms to go - they broke something while assembling it and would not replace it without a fight. I have never bought anything from Weirs but my parents have and they have nothing but praise for them and their customer service. My ex-roommate bought a dresser and bed from Roomstore and it did not hold up well at all. Also World Market has some surprising cool and sturdy dining tables. One in particular I've been looking at for awhile but I'm afraid it will be too big - it works now but if we don't end up moving somewhere that will hold a big table then we're out of luck.I also love Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel. Sometimes they're pricy but you never know - I have seen it when they mark down their samples and do an "as is" deal. I just never seem to have have the money at that time!

I found an amazing dining room table on craigs list about 6 months ago for $300! It was in perfect condition. I also have a lot of Ashley and I love it!

Thanks, girls! We live in Corinth but will look at things in Grapevine since we both work over there.  I definitely want to look at Stacy's because my ISD badge gets me a 15% discount from them.  :-)  We bought our sectional from Haverty's and my parents have bought from Weir's so I want to check them out too.  Emi,  thanks for reminding me about the outlets.  We'll take a look at those too.

I second The Dump. My parents and neighbors have bought Rooms to Go furniture and have been really unhappy with it. Also, check out World Market for a dining room set. They have beautiful furniture, and when it goes on sale it is an amazing deal. My parents just got a dining room table from there 2 years ago and it is gorgeous

I had wonderful experiences with both Rooms To Go in Plano (excellent customer service) and also Ashley Furniture in Frisco (great sales).   Our dining room set came from Ashley and our bedroom set came from Rooms to Go and I love both.

My favs are ZGallerie, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn (although I am getting bored with it) and Macy's. I have had some good luck with Havertys and Weirs too.

Although I've heard bad reviews with Rooms To Go, we had a great experience and think our furniture is pretty sturdy.  My only complaint is that they didn't call before showing up to deliver.I also found out yesterday there is a Weir's outlet behind the Weir's at Knox-Henderson.  So upset I didn't know that before!!!

I would also highly recommend Weir's. Also Restoration Hardware has very nice furniture but they are expensive, but everything is made very well (dove-tailed drawers...etc.) and when it comes to furniture you get what you pay for.Happy hunting!
