I had a cat (fixed) who would do this with a pillow. He would "dance on it" purring loudly just like your cat is doing for about 20 minutes. Then he would get off of it, lick himself, then pass out. 

It made him happy so I never took the pillow away, but I made sure guests knew not to touch it or sit with the pillow. lol 

Your cat has a fuuck buddy. I think it's nice he's got a little excitement in his life

The cat we used to have did the same thing...at the foot of the bed...usually while I was laying in bed. At the time i didn't realize what he was doing (middle school)...ew.

This was the same cat who figured out how to get tampons out of the child-locked cupboard under the sink and play with them. We used to have to do a quick once over of the house before we let any visitors in because of it.

All of our cats knead on blankets or us at some point or another.  The sucking thing is only done by one of our cats.


From what I've been told, it is actually an instinctual thing that goes back to when they were young.  When they are very fond of something, they tend to knead and suck on it as if they are nursing from their mother.  It's a display of comfort.
