Sunday Morning!

Re: Sunday Morning!

  • Oh and Atticus is now registered.

He is Briarwood Te Vega Von Atticus (our last name).

His father is Briarwood Te Vega Von Eragon, so it's a nod to his dad. Several of his ancestors are Briarwoods.

  • I gotta head out.  FI and I have to go check out of the hotel and head to my parent's house.  I get to start thank-you notes today.  Good thing I won't have to worry about doing them later though.  They'll already be done.

Just a grapevine wreath, rubber snakes and black spray paint. She also painted the tongues red.

  • My H calls me Scout sometimes.

Speaking of, I think it was Steph(?) a few weeks back that was like "my H is really hungover and I don't feel bad"? I've totally got that going on right now. H is in Vegas for a bachelor party that he "didn't want to go to". He's been bitching about this for months. "We've got so much crap going on and it's so much $ etc". SO DON'T GO. Whatever. So  of course he goes and before he left he's all "I don't wanna get super drunk, I can't do it anymore, I'm sick of traveling hungover" and of course now I'm getting the "I feel like crap", "I wanted to take it easy but everyone else wanted to party til 4 AM" texts. Really? You are almost 30 years old and you can't say no to peer pressure? Sorry, but I don't feel bad. No one was forcing drinks down your throat buddy.

I think I'm gonna make this tomorrow for dinner. It has a tomato in  it and I don't think I'm going to cut it out. I am the anti-tomato. Such a bad Italian.

  • KD I love that wreath. We've got a subtle beach theme going on in our bathroom. Maybe if I'm ever feeling crazy I'll make something like that.

    The snake one is cool!

  • ha caponi- that was me.  I'm pretty sure he was hungover for like 3 days, and I laughed every morning.  It's funny how quickly you loose the ability to booze it up once you turn even 25.

H finally got off the couch and has already cleaned the bathroom and mopped the kitchen floor. So now I feel bad for bitching.  but not too bad. I still made him breakfast. I'm trying to come up with anything else to do except laundry. The massive pile of clothes in the nursery is so overwhelming. I think I might give up and just wash the cloth diapers so I feel productive at least. ;)
  • oh, and duds, I'm the same way. I get annoyed that H never comes with grocery shopping, so I guilt him into coming with me. Then I realize it's just way easier to do it without him.  Now he only comes if we go after Costco.

This is exactly what I'm making it for! We're going to totally redo our master bath this year and we love the beach cottage kind of thing. We already have a BEACH arrow sign in there now. When we redo the bedroom we'll be going for a Jamiaca feel.

    Total opposite of the house, but it's our space. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />

Exactly! That sounds real nice. I actually hate "real" wreaths (like with green stuff around Christmas) so the idea of using non-plant stuff appeals a lot to me.

  • Good morning!

Steph - I don't feel bad when H is hung over either.  He's a big boy - he knows how to avoid that situation if he really wants to.  That last minute nesting instinct hasn't hit yet?

Okay I'm glad I got it right. I am laughing thinking about you waking up and looking at him and just cracking up. It's crazy how when we first started dating, H was a tank and NEVER got hangovers. But like you said, now that he's older he gets them all the time. He's not used to it. I feel bad laughing a little though because he usually takes really good care of me when I'm hungover. Oh well lol he's in Vegas nothing I can do to help him right now.

  • exactly the same here, capone. H and I met in college, and the last two years he lived at a fraternity house, and then the year after college lived with a few guys. I wouldn't be surprised if they had 2-3 beers every night, and significantly more on the weekend.  He NEVER got hungover, but he's gotten himself one a few times this last year.  I laugh, because now he knows what the rest of the world deals with ;)

loop- it has! But in other ways, like I've gone on crazy cleaning sprees the last few weekends, tossing all sorts of 'stuff' we've been holding onto for no reason.  But for some reason, washing all these clothes is so overhwhelming.

Wait till the nesting stage starts! You'll get everything done AND more. I crawled on the floor pounding nails into the floor where the carpet had been taken up.

  • Steph - I understand.  I'll probably feel the same way.  One load at a time will get it done though.  And I find with laundry, that once I start the process it's easy to just keep swapping loads and putting new ones in.  It's the folding/hanging/putting away that overwhelms me.
  • Hey - sorry I'm way late, we just got back from errands and the market.

The pup's name is Emma, Elle.

KD - congrats on Atticus' graduation!  I really enjoyed our intermediate class, we use those commands a lot.  It's nice to teach them to sit and wait as you walk away.  It's been very handy.
  • Hi everyone.

I'm still recovering from the weekend. Dds party was awesome and she loved playing with so many kids. She and Teagan (Tide's Teagan) were instant bff's and played for almost 6 hours straight!

We are going to attempt to do the laundry today. Attempt, being the operative word.

this is at the bottom of our basement stairs, you cant actually get into the basement from this side because its just piles of dirt, holes and scraps of wood everywhere. Its going to be like this until they come excavate our drive way god knows when.

The blanket covered lump over there? thats the washer and dryer which can only be gotten to from through that opening covered by a big black plastic bag doorway, which you have to jump over in two directions that big pile of dirt to get to. Yup.

Going to ATTEMPT to do laundry. This is better than the past 2 weeks ago because the lighter cement in the lower left of that photo was previously another hole going from one side of the basement to the other so we couldnt even use the washer.
  • Good luck with your laundry adventure, Nebb!

I hope it goes better than it did on Tuesday when I found the new hole in the basement and the washer and dryer unhooked after I already had sheets and a comforter down with me in the basement and I started shrieking about how much I hate this fucking basement. I threw a pretty impressive little fit, which im not even a little proud of.
  • Wow Nebb - that looks like quite a mess.  Is it due to repairs that need to be done or some kind of upgrade/redo that you're working on?
  • NebbNebb member
10000 Comments 5 Love Its Combo Breaker
Part of the renovation thats been going on SINCE NOVEMBER. The guy found out the previous owners had moved some support posts and completely removed another so he had to redo it, and when he dug up the floor the main pipe leading out of the house was directly underneath where the support needs to go so it needs to be rerouted and thats when we started getting standing water in the basement and found out that the pipe is crushed outside of the house and the driveway needs to be dug up. The holes currently are from that and from resupporting the floor for the new supports.
  • I'm still waiting to see your basement on Holmes on Homes, Nebb ;)
  • NOVEMBER?  That's insane... are you renting the house, so the owner just doesn't have any urgency since he doesn't have to deal with daily?
  • NebbNebb member

We rent the upstairs portion (three bedrooms and a bathroom) from my mom, we share the main floor. Since november everything from the basement has resided in the family room, and then lots of stuff for finishing the basement has been in the living room and all of the food normally housed in the basement has lived on and under the dining room table so we only really have use of the kitchen on the main floor. The cost of the basement has sorta spiralled out of control with all of the issues that keep coming up so thats why its taking so long. My mom can only afford to have the contractor in (not him and his assistant) so its just one guy working down there.
  • Ah - I see.  Well, I'm sorry it's taking so long.  Hopefully you can get to the washer and dryer.
  • NebbNebb member

Its another part of why I think my mom doesnt want us to move out. The money we pay in rent is a HUGE increase on her retirement income and what not, so she deserpately needs it to pay for whats going on. I get frustrated with all of this but I know we need to stay and help her.
