Wedding Nightmare...

Is/has anyone had crazy wedding dreams this early? We're not getting married for another 13 months. Please share your wedding nightmares so I don't feel totally alone.

Re: Wedding Nightmare...

  • The wedding is usually starting in 5 minutes, and my shoes are nowhere to be found, my dress is 3 sizes too big, and my hair is a frizzy disaster.

    You are definitely not alone.
  • We had a DW, and I dreamed more than once that we were stranded in the airport for days and I was in tears because we could not have the wedding.
  • Yeah you are normal. I had dreams the florist didnt show up and we were picking flowers from a field to make bouquets.

Then after the wedding we both had weird dreams. Usually about our ex's, which could be considered a nightmare.

  • I had a lot of natural disaster dreams. There was a hurricane, tornado, huge thunderstorm. There were a few dreams where no one could fine the venue, we forgot our dress and suit, and my dad didn't show up to walk me down the aisle. Oh, and there was one where H's ex showed up (a face I made up since I don't know what she looks like) and tried to stop the wedding but he literally shoved her back into her car in the dream.

But despite all the bad, we always ended up getting married. Thankfully I never had a dream where H had stood me up.
  • I have had nightmare's about my wedding on and off since I got engaged! Mostly about the pastor talking too much and making it all about him... YIKES! Another that I couldn't find my groom? Weird.... You're not alone, see, I'm 9 months away :)
  • I don't talk to my father and he won't be invited to my wedding. So of course a couple of weeks ago I dreamt that he showed up to crash my wedding and that we had hired security who threw him out, and it ended up ruining my day because of all the commotion.

  • I started having dreams at 12 months. They are few and far between though. It is just because the wedding is on your mind!!!
  • Mine has been recurring. The wedding is at 5pm but there isn't anyone but me at the venue. The guests finally start showing up at 6pm but I still can't find, or get in touch with, my family, wedding party, or the groom.

My mom keeps having a dream that I have a huge pink ink stain on my dress in the front. She tells me to hold my flowers over the spot and pushes me onto the aisle saying "we are getting you married today."

  • My friend and I are both getting married next June. She started having wedding nightmares almost immediately after she started planning.  Her's were definitely nightmares, but hysterical to hear her describe them (i.e. her mom got trashed before the ceremony and stood up in the middle of the ceremony and went on this long rant about how her and the bride's step dad don't have sex anymore!) She has since decided to hide all alcohol from everyone involved in the wedding until after the ceremony haha. Just so you know you're not alone!

  • I had a few - one involved H wearing some ridiculously garish suit, another involved some sort of disaster with the food and reception hall.  Your typical anxiety dreams, I guess.  YOu're not alone.

When I married my ex, who is very very tall and very very thin, I dreamt I was marrying a giraffe.  Like, a real live giraffe, wearing a tuxedo, like Geoffrey the Toys R Us giraffe.
  • I've only had a couple wedding related dreams.  In one I hadn't bought a dress, and was perfectly happy to get married in my favorite old jeans and hot-pink t-shirt, but my bridesmaids wouldn't let me.  They made me go buy a white dress off the rack somewhere that morning and I was upset that I had to shop instead of drinking mimosas.

  • I dreamed it was five minutes before the wedding was supposed to start and my bridesmaids had never decided on a dress so we were scrambling to find them dresses, none of them matched in color, length, or fabric. Because of the whole dress situation we ran out of time for hair and make-up so we had to throw together quick hairstyles and I just cried. I woke up the next morning very distraught!!!

It was so vivid, I can still recall it.  The irony, though, is that I didn't marry a giraffe, I married a horse's ass.
  • Yea in my dream I woke up and couldn't find my dress and then as I'm looking for it I ran into FI at my house and we got in a big fight because he was there and I told him that it was him trying to see me before the wedding that made me lose my dress. When I finally found my dress I unzipped the garment bag and there was a black and fuschia prom dress where my dress would have been. Then my mom said, "What can we do about it? NOTHING! Put on the dress and lets get you to the church" and I just sat their sobbing.
