Recommend your hair dryer

Mine broke the other night and now I am hair dryer-less. I'm willing to pay for good quality. I have a Sedu flat iron and love it - anyone have a Sedu hair dryer? Looks like Folica.com sells 3 different ones http://www.folica.com/brands/sedu/hair-dryers Anyone know if there's a difference between the Revolution Pro and the Ultrapower Professional? (Other than $10 haha...) Or another brand is fine too. I'll probably have to order online. I'd post on F&B but there's already a post about hair dryers on there and it only has like 2 responses Cry

  • Ohhh hair dryer-less, I feel you pain. I have no good suggestions so sorry.

  • It's really bad. I have shorter hair now so it NEEDS to be blowdried or it will look like crap. I've been getting by with just my straightener on air-dried hair but then it looks flat. Cry

  • I think mine is conair. I got it at target. I will try to get a link or pic right now. It has the cool, warm and hot settings also high and low. It came with two defuser (SP?) attachments.

  • I've had 2 Chi dryers and they are my favorite.

I have that particular one right now. It's definitely worth the money.

  • Um...the air? I haven't used a hair dryer in years, it destroys my hair and makes it all frizzy. Maybe I was just using a crappy one.
  • Oh I can't let it air-dry now. My hair's shorter now and it needs to be styled in a certain way. Actually my hair gets mad frizzy if I let it air dry when it's longer.

  • Yeah when my hair was shorter it was the same way. Now it's about to my butt so it's not as bad. I admit, I got really lazy the last few years when it comes to styling my hair.

I have the short hair problem too. My favorite hair dryer is actually made by Bed Head and it has tourmaline-ion-something-or-other (I know it has some weird proprietary name, I just can't remember what it is), which is supposed to cut down on the frizz factor. I've found it has, actually. It wasn't crazy expensive either. Got it at Harmon for I think 30 bucks. It's also really light weight. I don't know if that makes a difference for you, but I know it was a nice perk for me!

    GL with your search!

ETA: here's a link to it. I'm sure you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

  • Sesh and KD- I'm jealous.  Want to swap hair? I have a big full head of super thick curly hair.

Byte- I have a $30 hair dryer from Target, so I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.  It's awesome though and came with a great diffuser attachment.  I'll see if I can find it.
  • Steph - can I borrow your hair? Just for like an hour?

  • I also attribute that I don't have a hair dryer, I use the Arizona sun, and convection oven wind to dry my curly hair...

No dont be jealous Steph. My hair is very thick, and frizzy. But I usually wash it in the evenings put in some Fredrik Fekke (sp?) and put it in a ponytail. In the morning I use a big barrel Iron. And if it's raining it really doesnt matter.I'm doomed.

  • I have super thick hair too! (Not really curly though.) It takes forever to air dry once it gets long. With my latest haircut, the stylist thinned it out which is awesome, I love when they do that but not all stylists will for some reason.

I'll look into all of these, I think Chis at least I can buy at Ulta which is awesome because then I could have it sooner than having to order off Amazon or Folica.

  • I like the Fredric Fekkai products, super expensive though, and the curly version ($20 @ Bath Body Works / Ulta) they don't have the larger version like the gloss cream :S  I switched to the Fructis Leave In Conditioner which is $2.99 @ Target, does the same job, and much cheaper!

  • Frederic Fekkai is my hair boyfriend. His Coiff line is AMAZING.

OOO I JUST bought one two nights ago and so far I LOVE IT. It's

I got it at a sally beauty supply. The bran is actually Ion and its the Conditioning Ionic ceramic treatment dryer. It has cut my dry time by like 15 minutes and has also cut back the frizz. It wasn't that expensive- about $70.

I think Ulta is having a 20% off sale right now through saturday. It'll be a good time to buy a dryer.

  • I found that Ionic = staticky hair for me.

  • Ohhh I'm so going to Ulta haha.

  • I have very thick, curly (not super tight curls, but like large spirals) hair and I blow it out every few days.  I love the Conair Ionic hairdryers (mine is old and I need to get a new one this weekend).  The Ionic ones make my hair so sleek and shiny, it's like  a salon blow out.

I also want to try the handleless one, like this Chi, but I'm balking at the price.

  • ok, here is the deal...i truly believe that hair dryers are one thing it's worth it to spend more money on. cheaper ones blow a lot of air but don't get as hot. this results in your hair appearing dry but not being dry throughout the entire follicle. more expensive hair dryers get hotter and dry the follicles from within. since it is completely dry you get less frizz!

this is my current hair dryer and i love it.

It's also important to use a good quality round brush. i use a large boar bristle one to smooth my hair and reduce static.

    i hope that helps! :)

  • I have a CHI and love it.  Love that it's quieter than cheaper ones, love that it's quicker, and love the longer cord.  Definitely worth it!
