This is just silly.  Plenty of posts bother me....and yes it gets old reading about the same thing over and over again but the solution is to stop reading them.  Paying for the wedding yourself does not stop a pushy FMIL from trying to expand the guest list.  I don't understand why you don't get that.  Also, how is it wrong to have one set of parents help pay and that place a restriction on the guest  amount of the other parent?  This has very little to do with paying for it oneself and more to do with respecting who is paying for the wedding.  Get over yourself.

Yeah... it's good to skip the posts that consistently annoy you. Like I always skip anything titled "Do I have to invite kids? Even the tiniest of tiny babies?" or anything of that ilk. And sometimes I tell people to quit whining and buy a goddamn etiquette book like I did. I learned by reading, not by being an etiquette wizard!

But really, the best thing to do is to find a way to enjoy what you like about the boards, and gliss over what annoys you.

I am gonna go against the grain here and say I DO see her point. I mean, getting on a board you have not posted to (or posted much to) before to bitch about something like this is not the best form, but not really criminal either.

There are posts I have looked at for sure and thought to myself "then shut up and pay for it yourself!" but I don;t get this hot about it. I think she just got all excited.

Big fail on post deletion, though. Don't delete, please. Have some ovaries and defend what you were doing, or if you yourself decide it was stupid just say "my bad" and be done with it.

Been there, done that and here I still am snarking it up.
