Snarky Brides

XP: Rec your Android apps.

I just got a new phone and have downloaded all my standbys (Pandora, ATK, Angry Birds, Goodreads, etc) but need to know what you can't live without.

Also, does anyone recommend ATK vs Advanced Task Manager?  I've only ever had ATM, but I've heard ATK is better.

Aw, thanks!  I can't wait to see your pics.  I love the one in your sig now :)

Ang, Fooducate sounds cool!  Does it show ingredients and stuff too?  I wonder if there's an app to help me find hidden gluten in things.

When I got my phone, they told me not to download any of the task killer apps. I forget why, but my phone has a built in task manager, so I just use that.

I really like the Mr. Number app on my phone. You can block numbers, even from texting you. I also love Shazam, it's a song indentifier. I use it all the time.

  • Yeah, I've heard mixed reviews on the task managing apps, but I experimented and found when used properly, my battery lasted a lot longer with it than without.

  • I like my Ebay app.  Also Living Social has an app too.

  • I loved my Pinterest app; now I have a slightly different one and I'm not crazy about it.

I love having mny bank and CC apps at my fingertips, so those are helpful if you haven't dl'ed them yet.

Shopping--Living Social, Groupon, Etsy for Android, Net-a-Porter, Zappos, RueLaLa

Entertainment--GlamLife, Glamour Magazine, Scramble with Friends, HuffPost, Flixster, DYAC, Cheeseburger, Pose, StumbleUpon.

    Practical Apps--
I like tracking food with My Fitness Pal, but I've been trying SparkPeople also (not crazy about that one).
I like My Days for charting stuff, if you want to do that.
Weather Bug is useful for updates.
Mint.com has an app for financial management.
Make My List is good for general organization.
Sincerely Ink lets you make your own cards to send to people.
Advanced Task Killer is pretty good.

  • I like ATK. You can set it to 'auto-kill', and my battery is so much better.

    I also have:
    LinkedIn
    Twitter
    Words with Friends
I used to use the WW app, which was awesome
    IMDB
    All Recipes

I have more, but I don't have my phone on me right now.
  • oh! GasBuddy is another awesome one. Ditto Our Groceries
  • I save a lot of recipes online via ziplist.com, and have the android app that goes with it.  It allows me to view recipes I've saved and grocery lists.  Runkeeper is a good app, also synched to the website.  It uses gps or manually entered information to track your cardio exercises.  My favorite part is honestly finding out how many feet I've climbed on a walk.  My bank is 151 feet above my street.
    Groupon
    Living Social
Stabucks (if you have a refillable card you can pay with your phone)
Transit things (if you live in a metro area and use public transit there are probably apps for that)  I have a NYC subway map (that's the whole app.  It opens a map without a data connection.  Super useful on the train where there's no signal and only one map per car).  I also have a commuter rail schedule app.
The only apps I have are basically games.  Sudoku, Gin, Uno, crosswords, word search
Wedding Countdown Ticker Daisypath Graduation tickers
  • another vote for our groceries.  H and I love that app

    dropbox
es explorer - helps organize and find files
