**Bec** & anyone else :)

Bec,

Saw in the Good Morning post that you are planning to stain your concrete. Please tell me more!

Which look are you going for? Have you found good diy instructions online?

I just discovered yesterday that the process is possible (never seen it in person) and am loving the pics I've found.

I love the blue!

Re: **Bec** & anyone else :)

  • I think it's awesome that you teach film, Nates. I love movies. A good friend of mine does a wicked Jimmy Stewart impression.

Anna, I love Apartment Therapy for things like this:

It's pretty darn spiffy.  Totally just discovered that people do it.  I was researching concrete sealers and treatments and found it.  I don't know if it's a new thing or just unknown.

I just found out that my dad is paying for 2 nights at Disney and my mom is buying our 3-day tickets for Christmas. So H and I are pretty much going for free but for gas and food costs. Best Christmas ever.

Now I just have to finish my shopping and find ou from H when's the earliest he'll let me start decorating.

    November 12th

It's the day that Lowe's gets their first live Christmas tree shipment.  :)

I see. You're one of THOSE people. I worked at HD all through college. I know all about you people. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

Se, that sounds awesome! Disney is a blast!

Our Christmas tree is my favorite bargain ever. We got a brand new 7.5 foot Douglas Fir for seven bucks at a Goodwill! We love it. I can't wait to put it up. Day after Thanksgiving is my day.

  • Thanks, MIAF.  I'm lucky enough to teach everything that I love teaching.

I wait to do Christmas decorations until Black Friday, although barely.  I like to shop, come home and wrap presents, and set up the tree.  But Elf made me so excited that we might just be decorating a little early this year.

Yep.  I'm one of them.  Well..  I am their king.  I was the first person in the city to have a live tree last year.  The kid from Lowes called me the second the truck pulled up.

We can't have a faux tree.  We don't have a single place to store it the rest of the year.  This house is severely storage deficient.

I was straightening out our string lights and garland the other day and I'm pretty sure my H looked terrified .  i think he thought i might already be putting them up.  Nope.. Halloween needs it's glory too.

I will have everything up when everyone comes over for our Thanksgiving in November.

We can't have a real tree, much to H's disappointment. I'm allergic because of my asthma. it sucks, i'd love a real tree but they send me into horrible sneezing fits.
  • Boo. Storage issues. I did love selling Christmas trees because everyone was so excited about them! Live trees are great as long as you get a good one and take care of it until Christmas.

I love everything about Christmas. I love the movies, music, shopping for gifts, the tree, decorations, everything. It is the best.

H washed and vacuumed ours last year to remove more allergens.  i'm spoiled.
  • I love stained concrete floors. I want to do that in our house next year (when we move in, that is!) At least in the livingroom.

I also love Christmas, and real trees..but I have a fake one.

Our tree always lasts from mid november until the new year.  I stop watering it after Christmas.  H chops up our tree for firewood at the beginning of the year.

My favorite thing about Christmas.. favorite material thing anyway.. is the sound of a Mr. Christmas Music Box.  I want one SO bad but I try not to talk about them because they are expensive, I can think of better uses for $ at the moment, and i don't want to accidentally cause H to go get me one.

    I love that music box.   <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMkfAGXLwsQ" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMkfAGXLwsQ</a>
  • I have to have a fake tree for J's allergies.

On to stained concrete: YAY! I love stained concrete. There's a kit at Home Depot that you can get, and you just acid etch the concrete, then stain it with coats of color stain until you love it, then seal it and you're done! It takes drying time between coats, but it's super simple. I did a bathroom in my old old house, and I can't wait to do it in my dining room. And then stain the concrete in there! ;)

Groovy.  i'll have to check out Home Depot.  We were thinking that an acid etched concrete floor would look cool and be easy to clean in the restaurant.
  • My friend stained her own concrete in her living room this summer. It was quite a project, but it came out nicely.
